Waitlist help

Hi, I was waitlisted and I accepted a spot immediately when I found out.

I was wondering, how does UChicago select students off of the waitlist? I know the waitlist IS unranked. So, how would they choose which students to admit from the waitlist?

Also, around what date would UChicago let us know if we were accepted or not from the waitlist?

How many students are generally accepted from the waitlist, and how many students were waitlisted for this year?

Please help me out, and TYIA!

Most of the info can be found here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-chicago/1308419-advice-waitlisted-students-4.html

Notification for waitlistees should happen after May.

I was waitlisted too :open_mouth: good luck!

I heard an admission officer explain it from WashU once. Obviously it’s a different university, but I think it’s a universal concept. If so and so (who was accepted) ends up denying their acceptance invitation, they will look for a similar candidate from the wait-listed group.

I may be wrong, but this is my understanding.
