waitlist help

Hi everyone! I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions of beneficial things to do to get myself admitted off of the waitlist. If anyone has a waitlist success story, please feel free to share!

Villanova was at the top of my list, and being waitlisted was one of the most disappointing moments in my college acceptance/denial experience.

Some of my stats are:
- ranked 16/ 458 at a competitive public school
- 1950 sat
- national honor society secretary, spanish national honor society, class representative, varsity sports, school ambassador, very active in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, church youth group, and tons of community service.

Do I have a good chance?

Thanks for your time!

I’m sorry to hear that you were waitlisted. I know how frustrating it is (I’m on the waitlist at my top school as well.) A few things that others/my guidance counselor have suggested that might help you, too:

*send in your reply card ASAP accepting a spot on the list, if you haven’t already.

*update, update! send in a well-written letter of continued interest to your regional rep, explaining why you are a good fit for the school and vice versa, and confirming that is absolutely your number one choice. be very specific and keep the tone positive!

*send in your third quarter grades, and maybe an additional letter of recommendation from a senior year teacher. if you have participated in any new activities/won any new awards since originally submitting your application, let them know!

of course, these are just suggestions. no matter what, keep in touch with the admissions office and your rep (but keep it upbeat, and try not to sound too desperate, as frustrating as it is!) best of luck…hang in there!

^^^what rose said…any little thing could help…i have a story which i think is funny and appropriate to this situation with regards to getting off a waitlist…my sister’s first choice was duke, got waitlisted, etc…instead of just sending in a note saying that she was very enthusiastic about duke, she made up a fake newspaper byline in which it said that she graduated from duke…certainly unconventional, definitely cheesy but it ended up working, imagine that…i wish you luck

Thank you both for your input. I will totally start getting everything together to send. Hopefully I can come up with something creative like your sister, 1390hopeful!

let us know how it all works out, good luck wherever you end up!
