Waitlist Information

When does Princeton generally inform people of their waitlist status? I know the process can take until the end of June, but I heard rumors that the majority of people were informed in the first couple of weeks of May. Is this true?

That would make sense. Seeing that the 08-09 school year starts in around four months, it's in their best interest to get all the students in as fast as they can.

Since apparently the yes/no reply form for admitted students is online, does that mean they will know whether or not they're gonna use the waitlist by tomorrow?

Admits can also reply via snail mail if they wish. So they might wait a couple of extra days just to make sure...

anyone know how they send waitlist decisions?

They'll call you first, followed by a package in the mail.

Will they only call you if you are admitted? Or will they call too if you're rejected?

Around when does this call come (if anyone from last year knows)? I know they say they let people know by June 30th but I was under the impression most calls come in mid May or so?

Does anyone know whether they're gonna even use the waitlist this year?

what about internationals? They will e-mail right?
they probably will use waitlist because the yield will not be good this year!

Either way you all better post it here right away if you get off!

I just got the call last night from admissions saying that they have decided to offer me a place in next year's class! Just as LaxFan said, the person I talked to also said that they would be sending a package very shortly.

Congratulations to quantumbound!

in off the waitlist, i am so so so so excited.

@quantum and @ursel4some - Congrats! How much time did they give you to accept?

Good to know there is movement on the waitlist and Pton is acting so fast. I was thinking that it may take at least 2 weeks for them to tally the numbers.
On the flip side the earlier they start taking kids off the waitlist, the better their yield will be (most kids will resign to staying with the school they have accepted as time passes)

I'm just curious what time you guys got the call? (and your timezone obviously)

Also, did you send in any extra materials/updates/etc.?

i'm from new jersey, est. i got the phone call at 1130 am of all times, i only answered because i happened to be home because of study hall. they give us one week to accept, i think the guy on the phone jumped back when i screamed that i was accepting right now, if he could please write that down.

i sent in additional information, wrote a letter saying i would attend if accepted, a plethora of people called the admissions office for me, i got an additional rec, and my guidance counselor released my rank (my school only does deciles).

I'm really excited to go to Princeton this fall and see how the Class of 2012 has turned out!

(Obviousy, it's going to be pretty awesome...)

Hello, new classmates :)

um did you just get off the wait list or something?

Congratulations! That must be so exciting. I'm glad Princeton is doing this so quickly.
