PS. I did email the office and they said that they were indeed accepting people off the waitlist (as if we didn’t already know that), but they don’t know exactly how many they will be taking off at this time and that the admittance process will continue into the end of June. So that is there official stance as of now.

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/09/education/09admissions.html?_r=2&hp&oref=slogin&oref=slogin

“…Harvard plans to offer admission to 150 to 175 students on its waiting list, and Princeton and the University of Pennsylvania each expect to take 90…”

so i just got off the waitlist but i already picked duke…

In case anyone is wondering I didn’t send them any info or letters or anything.

Just checked “yes” on the reply card asking if I wanted to remain on the waitlist.

Still, don’t think I’m gonna go despite Princeton being my dream school for two years. Dreams change and now I’m in love with Duke. It’s funny how that happens…if I had been accepted initially I would have picked it in a heartbeat.
Everything has a purpose I suppose!

When did you get called (day and time) and what time zone do you live in?
Also, some schools call their candidates asking them if they are still interested, and then call them like later. Did this happen to you?
thankss!

Although you may doubt my intentions as another waitlistee, I have to say thats one of the most mature things I’ve heard here. Congrats on picking what you truly want.

Oh and BTW thank you for going to Duke =P one more spot opens up for ptown!

I got called at about 2:30pm today, pacific time (I live in California).

And no, this was my first call.

She said they would send me an acceptance letter and financial aid packet on monday, and that I have to call them on Friday with my decision.

The only way I think I will end up at Princeton is if their financial aid package beats Duke’s price by $10,000 or more.
Duke offered me 0 financial aid (which was one of my biggest dilemmas when it came to choose), and according to my friend at Harvard whose parents have a similar income, she pays about the price she would to go to Berkeley.

Got the call today around 5:30pm EDST. Same info as padfoot got. They will send package FedEx and should expect it by Tuesday. Sent postcard to keep in waitlist early last week.

Well, the difference between my duke financial aid and my princeton financial aid was $12,000, so it’s looking good padfoot =P.

Which way?

any internationals?

i wanna get off the waitlist, if not, im going to stanford. but i have family in new jersey and i could visit my sister, and I like it a little more than stanford because of more undergrad focus and less of a focus on sports. It was my dream school forever, please take me off the waitlist…

i thot stanford was more popular…with better yield and better cross admit stat (qualities are essentially the same: theres no point of arguing over academics among HYSPM)

I wonder if they’ve already called all 90 this week :S And yeah any internationals got in yet?

Keep in mind that not all 90 will say yes, so they may do a second round of calls.

Yeah I know, I’m just wondering if the first wave has all been called

I think Yale, Princeton, and Stanford have always had pretty close yields around 68-70%. Based on some quick searches, last year Stanford was up to 70 from 67 (and ended up having 70 more students than they were prepared for) while Princeton was down to 68 from 69. They fluctuate a little each year, but are still fairly consistent.

Question: Did anyone get a message, not an actual conversation.

I am asking because our phones don’t work and I can only check the message machine.

did they already make offers to 90 ppl?
