Waitlist Information

An email? What’d it say?

My son sent a quick general status email, they were kind enough to respond that they are still sifting through the applications. This is the executive summary from my son, who does not want to talk about colleges any more, especially with me :)

Hey Princeton Kids,

I was rejected straight out, but I know how it feels to be waitlisted. I know a guy in Florida who was JUST (as in 5 minutes ago) accepted to Princeton. Don’t know what it means, but best of luck!

Fred N?
;)

One of my students told us that he was taken off the W-list today. He got a call and an email from the Admissions. He accepted the offer.

I JUST GOT IN TODAY!!! This is completely surreal and I am so excited!!! Good luck to everyone, if you’d made it this far you clearly all deserve the best and I hope that you get it!

congratulationss!!!

Where were you committed, Waitinggggg?

Cornell. I’m a little sad about leaving it – I was really excited about going there – but Princeton is definitely worth it for me. It should be great!!

Waitingggggggggg- What College/School were you committed to at Cornell? Have you notified Cornell yet that you will be withdrawing? Thanks!

^on cornell’s waitlist eh? =p

Same thing I was thinking, sup.

Haha, sounds like a waitlistee to me (it takes one to know one.)

No I haven’t notified Cornell yet, I’m calling them tomorrow. I was enrolled in Arts and Sciences, so hopefully that’s what you’re looking for. Just so you know though, schools have a target class size and unless they are right at their bottom target, one student who leaves does not translate to one open spot on the wait list. I hate to be a downer, but I know how obssessive I was while I was on the wait list, and how easily I got my hopes up. Best of luck!!

I heard that some waitlistees started getting rejection letters. Anyone know more on that?

My son called the admissions office today and was told that the waitlist was still active. He was told that if he doesn’t hear anything by June 30th it is over! He was also informed that a letter would be sent when the class is full. Nothing was said about rejection letters being sent out right now.

Ah I’ve pretty much given up hope…looks like it’s Wharton for me

Dang it. Looks like everyone’s given up hope too. ):

leads Kum Ba Yah prayer session with self.

… Apparently, wiki tells me that Kum Ba Yah has, over the past few years, turned into some mockery thing… So I mean that in the most non-mocking manner. >.<;;;

Good luck, y’all!

This is what I thought about a month ago in a PM to another CCer. Nothing has happened to change my mind:

Between people switching after being picked from other waitlists and those rejecting offers from Princeton’s I don’t think there should be more than 10-15 places available. That’s less than 1% of the incoming class. IMO those will go to legacies or other special circumstance people that could not be honestly accommodated in RD or waitlisted. It’s their prerogative. If in this year of admissions and finaid upheaval that’s all it came down to, their AdCom should be very pleased.

Don’t give up just yet! I got off the wait list two days ago:)

Are you International?
