Waitlist king? 6/11

Waitlisted at Dartmouth, Brown(1st choice), Swarthmore(3rd choice), Amherst(2nd choice), Emory, and Haverford.

Accepted at Duke, UNC, Tufts, and Reed

Rejected at Penn

Pick 1 or 2 from waitlist and send more stuff or let it go?

Look at the schools you were accepted to. If there are any schools on your waitlist that you would rather enroll at than the schools you were accepted to, then definitely accept the place on the waitlist. However, if you like an accepted school more than a waitlisted school, decline the spot.

It could depend on what you want to study and/or become; each school has its strengths. E.g., if you want a PhD in biology, Reed is tops.

I thought I might have the record for most waitlists (4 (of 9)).

I was WLd at Georgetown, Cornell, Amherst, and Williams... But I'll be partying it up at PENN so it's all good.

You got into Duke, and that's an amazing school.
G'luck to you.

Go to Duke or Tufts!!

Thanks all/
Lolabelle--why not Reed? What if Honors program at UNC? Still Duke or Tufts?

With_one-- thanks for the encouragement. good luck at Penn.

Vossron--Reed to Law School?

Thanks again

Well, what do you want to study?

I just think that Duke and Tufts are the most well-rounded of the schools you go into; meaning that most any major you study at both those schools will be in a strong department.

Um actually you are not a waitlist king.

My friend was waitlisted at:

Yale
Harvard
Princeton
Brown
Dartmouth
Columbia
MIT
UPenn

Accepted:
Duke

I feel so bad for her. She's a genius and the best all-around person. I would kill for her if I was an admissions officer!!

that sucks. u have my sympathies for what it's worth

"Reed to Law School?"

Sorry, I can't find this data at the Reed site. Anyone else know of some?

I'd go to Duke if I were you.

go to DUKE

Go to Duke.

Same for Moggle's friend.

And relinquish the wait spots, there's a lot of applicants who don't have any acceptances to such great schools.

You have some pretty nice choices. You can't go wrong with schools like Reed, Duke or Tufts. You might even end up loving these schools.

I've got a solid 4/6, with a possible fifth coming on Monday hahaha.

Hopefully colleges will need to take a lot of applicants from their waitlists this year!

3/7 here. It sucks.

Flakskid: In re-reading your original post, I noticed that your top choice -- Brown -- is an LAC-feel university. Of the schools you got into, Tufts is the most likely to fit that bill -- it's very similar to Brown in that it's a small research university that retains a focus on undergraduate education. Brown and Tufts share many cross-applicants. I would take a close look at Tufts!

3/5 (60%)
Waitlisted at Duke, Caltech, and WUStL
Rejected by MIT
Accepted to UMD

I know where I'll be going for college...

"Relinquish the waitspots"...because I got into some good schools that were really not at the top of my list? Interesting thought, but I'll already be creating 3 openings for people waitspotted at the three schools I decline. So, the math being kind of symmetrical, I'll accept 3 waitspots-brown, amherst, and swarthmore--and hope for the best. They sure have us at their mercy.
