Waitlist Letter

Does anyone have his/her waitlist letter still? If so, can you post it word-for-word.

Dear ___,

The Board of Admission has completed its review of your application and has voted to place your name on our Wait List. As disappointing as this decision may be for you, you should know we are impressed by your abilities and achievements and we sincerely hope that you will maintain your interest in Brown.

This year, Brown received more than 30,000 applicants for the 1,605 positions available in the Class of 2019. We have offered admission to a small percentage of our applicants but not so many, we believe, as to make it impossible for us to admit some applicants from the Wait List.

Details about your wait list status can be found in our Wait List Q and A, including instructions for reserving your space on Brown’s wait list. If you choose to remain on Brown’s waiting list, the Board will automatically consider your application for any position that becomes available. If the Board votes to offer you admission, you will be notified by mail; you should not, however, expect notification prior to May 15, and we expect to conclude our wait list process by mid-June.

If you also applied to the Program in Liberal Medical Education or the Brown-RISD Dual Degree Program, we regret that all of the positions in each program have been filled, and your Wait List status is for admission to The College as an A.B. or Sc.B. degree candidate.

The members of the Board of Admission believe that you have special qualities to offer to the Class of 2019, and so it is disheartening that we are unable to recognize your accomplishments more fully at this time. You may be sure that even if only one student can be selected from our Wait List, your application will be thoroughly reviewed.

Yours sincerely,

James S. Miller
Dean of Admission
