Waitlist movement already?

Middlebury is moving to the waitlist as well.

Its going to be interesting this year, with so many kids to so many applications, how things are gonna shake out wil be telling

Wonder what will happen next year, if the frenzy will continue, or if things will settle a bit

It looks like Vanderbilt has now called a few kids from the waitlist.

so it looks like there are no places left at amherst

Have you contacted Amherst. A lot of schools won't move on their wait-lists until this week.

someone else contacted amherst... see amherst board

anyone hear from NYU Stern?

anyone hear from Babson College?

Both the Northwestern and George Washington University board on CC are reporting acceptances off the waitlist. The director of Admissions from Dartmouth reported in the school paper that waitlist admissions are unlikely (although Byerly thinks there still may be 25 or so).

30 students were just contacted by email and offered places off MIT's waitlist. First time in four years MIT has gone to its waitlist.

i received an email from wash u...they're not taking ppl off their waitlist. and we'll get the letters soon.

So far, all the ones who got off the waitlist on Northwestern board applied to the journalism school.

Interesting. I always thought the journalism school was one of the very hardest to get into at Northwestern.

Why would that matter one way or the other? (Nursing school at Penn is harder to get into than Wharton - or at least used to be - so?)

Cami215,

Well, I've seen quite a few kids turning down Medill on CC alone already, mostly for financial reason esp for those that aren't so sure about journalism. USC, Syracuse, and Missouri offer comparable programs with less associated costs (USC has been generous with merit-based scholarships).

That makes sense. I have friends whose kids tried to transfer into Medill from within Northwestern and had a blazes of a time trying to do that. However, I can see how Syracuse and USC would cut down on initial yield.

Other privates that are reported as turning to their waitlist in the last day include Tufts, Occidental, and Williams. According to information from the dean of Admissions, Williams has already given out 40 acceptances, a figure that is higher than what Xiggi reported from an earlier year (26). One reason for this is that their yield is declining ever so slightly. It apparently dropped from 49% to 48% to 45.7% this year (or so the article says).

I feel as if those following this thread should tender an offer and begin to take bets as to likely admittances and yield rates. ;)

Per Emory University Admissions Office, at this point it is unlikely that they will take ANY students off of the waitlist for Emory College. Not sure about Emory's Oxford College.

Williams Record reports that Williams has extended 40 offers to waitlistees

harvard anyone?

Someone is reporting in the Brown forum that they expect little or no waitlist movement. I'm trying to find out more about this since our son is on the Brown waitlist.

There have been acceptances at Wheaton College (Mass.), U Del, and UC SanDiego.
