University of Michigan.

When we visited Penn the first week of April they said they weren't going to take anyone off the waitlist...reality may be different but that was the adcom's statement to my daughter who was on the waitlist.

From today's DP

Officials predict increased yield rate
Class of 2010 expected to break diversity records, could include fewer than 20 waitlisted students

Not only did a record number of high-school students apply to Penn this year, but a higher percentage of those accepted are choosing to enroll.
According to Dean of Admissions Lee Stetson, preliminary results have Penn on track for a 1 to 2 percentage-point increase from last year's yield of 65.5 percent.

This number is even higher than admissions officers expected, and Stetson said he believes that the number of students accepted from the waitlist will be "nominal."

Stetson said he does not anticipate accepting more than 20 or so students from the 800 to 900 in the waitlist pool.

"We are fortunate to be in a very strong position," Stetson said. "It means more students are choosing Penn as a first choice."

Just passing this along: According to Skidmore's director of admissions, they will probably not be turning to their waitlist this year as they have had a higher than expected yield. Goucher College did as well.

swarthmore or yale? oh yeh got into rice yesterday

I was just accepted off the Barnard waitlist!

Congratulations Victorial, way to go! Are you going to be rethinking your decision now?

I emailed Middlebury and they said that they might have already over-enrolled their international students and cannot anticipate to take any intnls off the waitlist anymore :( They had "unpredictably" high number of applications and strong students and admitted students seem to be picking Midd this year. But they'll let us know for sure in late may.

Marilee Jones of MIT admissions announced that they have taken 30 kids from the waitlist- the first time they've used the list since 2002. She said that they were overly cautious this year on the acceptances - planning to go to wait list- due to the high yield and resulting crowding in dorms during the last few years.

My D was accepted at Pepperdine University today from the waitlist. The AC told her she was one of two offered. She accepted and paid the commitment deposit. This has always been her first choice. She was also offered a very good finacial aide packet. Good luck to the rest of you on waitlist!

My D is still hoping for a spot at Richmond, has anyone heard anything about the possible chances for that happening? I know several posters have rejected Richmond...maybe she will get lucky

My daughter got into Yale yesterday.

Atlantia I know someone who got off the Middlebury wait list. She's from the US and was accepted for January admissions. Good luck to you.

From today's Philadelphia Inquirer:

Interesting article, although the author's use of the term, "less-revered schools" to describe schools such as TCNJ, Gettysburg, and Dickinson was unfortunate given the fact that each of these schools accept less than half of their applicants.

IMO, Widener has a different caliber student than the others listed.

Yes-I did not include Ursinus on the list only because they accepted more than half their applicants lst year -things will be different this year, I suspect.
And while Widener has a "less competitive" student body, D has a friend who is quite happy there.

anyone hear anything about Notre Dame?

I know Trinity College is already overbooked and so the school is not going to the waitlist.

can anyone confirm a report that Notre Dame will not be going to the waitlist this year?

does anyone know something about Bates ?
