Does anyone know when people on the Waitlist will be notified of their admissions decision? Any info. Would be much appreciated.

Usually starts during early may, after everyone who was accepted lets Emory whether they will attend or not. It can start earlier if enough people reject their offer of admission.

When did last year’s waitlsited students start to hear back? Also, I sent both Oxford and Emory a supplemental essay, and only Oxford replied. Is that simply because Emory has much more emails to wade through, or indicative of anything? I’m pretty on-edge about this whole thing, haha. </3

Last year my daughter got off the WL on April 28 (that’s when they called her). Then right after that, a few more people on CC who were on the Emory WL also got called.

Good luck. It’s tough waiting.

^Would you mind sharing tips? Did your daughter do anything special?

I feel like my chances are slim because I am instate. I know that they usually accept applicants whom they do not have enough of (like from certain states or people with certain talents).

She did visit, but it was her first time seeing the campus (we’d never been able to make it down there before). She also said she would accept having her app considered for Oxford, and she was accepted there. She sent a few emails reiterating her interest, and she was in touch with the coach for her sport.

Keep hoping – we’re from NY (definitely an over-represented state).

Classof2015 - That’s awesome that your daughter got called off the waitlist. Congratulations. How did she hear before May 1st? And is this a common thing for Emory? Because I thought most decisions come out in like middle-late May through June.

Generally, I wouldn’t expect to hear about waitlist admissions until May - August. Congratulations for beating that time frame!

Does anybody on the waitlist know if it is ranked or unranked? Colleges do waitlists both ways.

It is unranked.

Looks like in previous years they had started going off the waitlist starting April 28th. has anybody heard anything? Anything at all?

nope. nothing at all. hopefully soon though.

is fin aid available as soon as you accept attending off the WL or do u have to send in ur deposit b4 u can see it?

woopthack – I pulled this from rodney who posted on “anyone got waitlisted at Emory”:

i called my admissions counselor and found out that she has been away from the office from april 15th-may 2nd. does this mean i may have less of a chance because she will be reading the material i sent her so late?

^^your home state admissions counselor may (and probably isn’t) the person responsible for your waitlist file…( they weren’t even necessarily the person who read your file in the first place since Emory reads apps randomly)

Emory re-assigns all waitlist apps after April 1st

Call and find out which admissions officer is now responsible for your file…

yeah the counselor i called was the correct counselor-i called the office and confirmed that she was the one assigned to my file. thanks anyway! i think this year just isn’t the best year to be on the wait list.

Why is this year not good to be on the waitlist?

sorry to be so pessimistic! its just that a lot of people were accepted ed, a lot of people applied, and a lot of people were put on the wait list.

Anyone heard anything yet?

I got an email a couple of days ago that said that they ‘haven’t forgotten about me’ and will be updating me over the next couple of weeks etc…

Did anyone else get this?
