Hi, I got waitlisted to Davis and Santa Barbara. I am going to take the waitlist spots but at the same time, I would like to appeal. Santa Barbara gives me this option but for Davis, I have to take either one. Which one would I have a higher chance, just taking the waitlist spot or reject it and appeal?

Also, I might appeal to Irvine and San Diego. What are my chances of getting in?

3.83 is my current GPA. When I applied, my GPA was 3.75.
Santa Barbara allows me to to get waitlisted and appeal.
Davis has two options: take the waitlist spot and write a 200 word essay or forfeit the waitlist spot and appeal.

When appealing I need my Senior year 1st semester grades, which are:
ASB - A
AP Literature - A
AP Physics - B
AP Calculus AB - A
AP Econ - A

Once again, what are my chances?

That’s a good question to ask an advisor from both schools. How long do you have before you have to make a decision?

Hey, I know this has almost nothing to do with your question, but, like you, I got rejected from UCI. I want to appeal this decision, do you know how I should go about doing it?

@hesdjjim If I want to appeal or take the waitlist spot, the deadline is by April 15. Unfortunately, they tell you if you get accepted or not after May 1, which is the date you HAVE to SIR to a school by.

@lucybravener I actually have no idea either. I’m researching it online, but I know that you have to write a short essay basically why they want you, not why you want them. Like what have you done the few past months after you submitted the UC application? Exceeded in grades, more community service, etc.

If you appeal or waitlist, you’ll be notified by May 1 the earliest or June 1 the latest. So 1 month period to know if you’re accepted or not from appeal/waitlist and you have 3 days to accept the offer when you’re notified.
