i hope u are right…

I just called. They’ve made all of the offers for the first round. After Friday they’re going to call more students to fill the rest of the class. So if you haven’t been contacted then you were not in the first round. Here’s hoping alot of students have already committed elsewhere.

My D is out of state.

I suspect GT (like state schools in all states) wants more out-of-state students to accept. More money for tuition.

Since they’re a state school, i belive they’re required by state to admit a certain number of ga residents.

Almost certain that GT is blind w/ respect to IS v. OOS. No preferences given.

No - Georgia schools are not required to admit a certain percentage of GA residents. Perhaps you’re thinking of UNC (which does have caps on OOS enrollment)?

Anyways, best of luck to those hoping for a late acceptance.

The number of fall 2011 deposits has gone DOWN. Yesterday’s report: 2378; today’s report: 2364. Bounced checks? Withdrawals as students come off other schools’ waitlists? I expected the number to uptick slightly, as students who got a call from Tech this week put down their money before Friday’s deadline. If Monday’s number is much under 2600, there should be another round of calls.

Don’t suppose you work at Tech?
Thanks for the information! <3

Are they going to hav second 2nd round of calls today???

They’ll do the same thing they did last week. Call on Monday or Tuesday and give people until Friday to accept. They’ll do this all month until they’re full :D

Don’t lose hope guys!! You never know when karma will come and repay you for the hard work and kindness from high school.

how many ppl do they usually call??? do u know??

There should be another round of calls this week.
Tech added 15 deposits last week for summer 2011 freshmen, and the total is now in line with what its been for the past two years, but the school has added only 53 deposits from fall 2011 freshmen last week. Unless they have another method of securing commitments than receiving depositsor theyre counting waitlisted admissions differentlyTech still has another 160-170 students to go before theyre done (more, if they want a larger freshman class).

I turned down Tech during the last week of April, so hopefully one of you gets my spot :)

Have they started their second round of calls???

I want to know that too. …

Havent heard anything yet…Please post here if u get the call this week!!

This morning’s report shows that Ga. Tech has received 2444 deposits for fall 2011 freshmen (105 deposits since May 2). The school states that it is trying to fill a freshman class of 2650—about 100 more students than in 2009 and 2010.

If their stated goal doesn’t include summer enrollees, then they still have about 200 slots to fill.

Tech isn’t releasing much information, but in response to an e-mail, an admissions rep said that the response deadline for the first round of calls was today. (A poster earlier on this thread quoted a Tech e-mail as saying applicants had until last Friday to notify Tech, so perhaps today is the deposit deadline. Or else some of the information getting handed out isn’t that good.)

The e-mail said they would “reassess and potentially make more offers” of admission to waitlisted students after today’s deadline.

Wow 200 more! A friend of mine from GHP (who is turning down his slot) told me he was given until Friday. Sorry for the mis-information y’all!

So more calls tomorrow! Can’t wait :D

Anyone got any calls yet?

Repeating a post from mombbg, so that everyone can see for themselves how many students have gotten in:

Here is a link that shows how many freshman have deposited. I think it is updated every weekday. Looks like about 1950 deposits so far. Hope that is encouraging!
