Waitlist Process - what do I do

I'm waitlisted for 20L. Yesterday I enrolled in a History GE as a backup.

1) What are my chances of getting into 20L? I'm #1 out of 2 on the waitlist for a class of 20.
2) When should I buy textbooks? I'm afraid of falling behind, but I don't like taking 2 classes that I don't even know if I'm going to keep. It's sort of a waste of effort, and I don't want to buy books if it's a waste of money, because I'll drop History GE if I get into Chem Lab. I have never been waitlisted before, so I was wondering what people with experience have done.

Thanks!

1) You have an okay chance, I’d say, but it really depends on your class.
2) Look at it this way: you have to chem 20L eventually anyway. The class doesn’t change the lab manual often (in fact, I haven’t heard of the last time it was changed), so go ahead and buy it anyway.

If you need a stopgap for textbooks, camp yourself in Powell and use library reserves.

If you have Pang, I’m 99.9% sure you’ll get in. I took 20L with Pang last quarter and he let the 2 people on the waiting list in during your scheduled lab section.
