Waitlist Process

My D was wait listed at Shenandoah and since I am very new to this MT world, I’m hoping some of you may be able to shed some light on this process.

For instance, any idea how many candidates are wait listed / Deferred at Shenandoah?

Has anyone else on here received a wait list letter?

What are her chances for being accepted from the wait list?

Any help is appreciated, the waiting is nerve wracking to say the least.

We are meeting tomorrow morning to look at the list and start narrowing it down.

In General (things may end up going different):

We will sit down and look at who we have accepted and how many spaces we have left.

We will then look at the wait list and discuss our favorites and come up with an agreement of who to pull up first.

We will also make a decision on who to let go after having seen all the auditions (I personally hate that part)

We will hold a certain # (varies year to year) because we know that some of the people we accept will not accept us. If you do not hear by the middle of next week and you are still interested in us, please email Jonathan Flom and tell him - it helps and makes a difference.

VT

Our D is also waitlisted. Shenandoah continues to be our top choice for her. She has one BFA MT acceptance elsewhere and one BA MT acceptance elsewhere, as well. Each time we visited Shenandoah, or explored their curriculum, we were impressed more and more. I get such a nurturing vibe.
Trying not to obsessively check her SU WebAdvisor too much ;-)

I do not envy these people making the admissions decisions!

Ditto lalaimb, D just loved the faculty there and came away very impressed with their curriculum as well.

Also trying not to obsessively check WebAdvisor, but I don’t think I’m succeeding.

OK, here’s my crappy metaphor:
The way I see it, our kids are swimming in a “pool.” (the pool being students being considered) The thing is, are they in the shallow end or the deep end? Are they going to be kicked out because there are too many people in the pool?

There ya go… and we wait. LOL

Let’s hang in there!

Great Metaphor, Hopefully we find out soon. Just have a problem with the over crowding at this particular pool, lol. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

VT,

I was wondering how many you all decided to initially pull up (and what are you expecting to yield from that?) Should we assume that you have completed notifying your first round choices? We still show ‘waitlist’ on Web Advisor. I’m mostly thinking that we’re still swimming around in the pool. ;-)

Thanks!

Does anyone know if Shenandoah’s waitlist is a “general” one or if it goes by type? That’s to say, if a curly-haired redhead belter is on the waitlist, are they waiting for another of her type to decline, or does it just go one for one---- one decline and they call up the next student of that gender, regardless of type or voice type, etc?
Thanks…
So patiently waiting and by patiently I mean anxiously ;-)

Anyone? Bueller? It appears that no one has info on the nature of the waiting list at Shenandoah. :-/

I would assume it’s the same as most, that it’s by type.

She got in! Off waitlist as of today. Eternally grateful and beyond thrilled :-)

lalaimb, Congratulations to your D. Our girls will have a wonderful experience and education at Shenco. I know my D can’t wait for her journey to continue.

Your D got in, too? Silly! You neglected to mention  This is wonderful news. The whole place gave me not only warm fuzzies but also a feeling of REAL training, comprehensive and spot on. Congrats :-)

MTDad—
I see that your daughter finally decided on Texas State. I’m wondering why she opted for that program over Shenandoah.

OK…best of luck in all of her endeavors! Think we are Shenandoah bound!

Lalaimb

Lalalimb,
I’m glad someone else was in the same boat as me. i auditioned at the first date too and I have been wait listed since December and today I was accepted! sigh of relief congrats to you and your D!

Will you be attending Admitted Freshman Day a week from today? Congrats on your acceptance!
