Waitlist question (MATH)

I am currently in a small dilemma. I have chosen to waitlist MATH 20E and am currently 3rd on the waitlist for my section with 10 total on the waitlist, however they just recently opened up new sections for the course. The course that I am in is at 6-6:50 and the new sections are at 8-8:50 and 9-9:50. Each section takes 34 students. My question is, should I give up the spot on the waitlist for this guaranteed class? 3rd doesn’t sound too bad but I also know that there is no guarantee. Normally I wouldn’t care much but I live quite far from the campus and don’t want to be travelling back and forth because the class would be later on and the gap from my previous class that day would be extended.I am a new transfer and am not sure how the chances are on the waitlist. thank you.

3rd in a class of 34 students will generally get in. You could try to switch sections a week or two into the quarter, since those new sections probably won’t fill up.

thanks for reply, but before the end of the night, one of the new sections only had 6 spots left so I decided to go for the guaranteed spot.
