I'm assuming that the 20-25 number, along with the number of people that were called just on this website, means that very few additional people, if any, will be taken off the waitlist.

well...I didn't get a call but I called my regional representative on Wednesday just to get info. on the numbers. I once again expressed my desire to attend Penn.

And I got my acceptance letter half-an-hour ago.

One question: I'm getting virtually no financial aid at all! Is it possible for waitlisted->accepted students to request some more aid?

So new list:

Neutralnuke, so you never received a call but you just received your acceptance letter in the mail today? Did you send your region representative a letter beforehand stating that Penn was your #1 choice?

yes, vicuna

Hm, interesting. Well, congrats. Where do you live?

Do you think they trusted your letter and sent the acceptance or mailed the packet after you called them?

Good for you:). But, since the phone call was received here this leaves me to question the "phone call and your in" theory.

Apparently 20-25 wait list spots are available this year.

Thanks. I live in Baltimore.
My letter was brief and I did say that I would attend Penn if a chance for placement occurred.

I had a very amusing call with my regional rep. this evening. Basically, he was going to call me later to inform me (Thursday, I believe) but I called on Wed. and (I guess) he realized that I would have accepted b/c I said I would if any position came up.
So Friday, I pick up a package from the FedEx that was delivered overnight and...I'm in!!

That is great. I figured the wait would be about a week.

Nothing coming for the weekend.

did u all get an email before or along with the package?

no email at all for me.

Acceptance packet is sent out right after the phone call

Phone call was Thursday. But how would you know if the packet goes out after the phone call? There has to be some processing.

When the rep calls and has your file open she would have to press the send button. That info has to go to the Dean of Admin. who then signs the admit letter. Next, the admit letter has to be moved along to another station. Afterwards, someone has to gather all the necessary info and put it together in a packet. Then,it has be addressed and sent to a mail room, placed on a mail truck, sent to a hub if it is indeed FedEx,placed on another truck and it gets here. If this is correct, then two days...maybe.

I think it just depends on what time of day the call was and what else was probably going on in the admissions office that day. I think that anyone who gets the call should receive a package withiin 1-3 days depending on when it was sent

This is from Penn's FAQ:
When would I hear from the University if I am admitted from the waitlist?
Beginning in mid-May, the Office of Admissions may use the waitlist to add students to the class.
Students from the Cornell waiting list have been contacted by phone and have been accepted. It seems Cornell provides more information to those they call. Since contacted on May 04, none of the Cornell students have received mailings.

hm, so let's say they call you up, but u are still waitin on two other waitlisted schools. should u still say yes even though u might decline later? (not that i would get that call.....i'm just being hypothetical)

One person contacted form Cornell on May 04 received the acceptance letter on the 10th by priority mail.

prowlin panther: I believe it is expected students will accept one school over the other. Say yes. You worked for it.
