waitlist question

Does anyone know if the schools will send an additional letter indicating either rejectiion or acceptance after waiting?
Or do we assume that we are not getting in if we don't hear from the school?

Isn’t the waitlist acceptance going to be a phone call?

Four years ago my daughter was waitlisted at 2 schools and accepted at a number of others. She told both of the schools to keep her on the waitlist.
After a number of revisits, she ultimately chose a school and decided to go off of the waitlist at what had been her top choice. So she sent a nice little note along to waitlist number 1 school. Totally forgot to do that for waitlist number 2 school.
Sometime in July we got a postcard from them saying their waitlist was closed and that they would not be accepting any additional students.

Sarum’s right, I’m pretty sure that they will phone you if you are accepted off the waitlist.

If you don’t have a call then it’s a rejection…

I think.

Normally, there is a phone call when you get off the waitlist since the schools need to move quickly to fill slots. My child was waitlisted a few years ago at a top school. We sent them an update by email when he got an award for math achievement - we did not get a reply acknowledging the email. We , soon, after sent both an email and a note asking to be removed from the waitlist. Again, we got no reply. About a week before school started, we got a postcard telling us that ‘unfortunately…blah…blah… we will be unable to take you off our wait list this year…’
