I want to know too. I feel like they’re not going to use their waitlist since they haven’t the last two years… kind of really suckss. I don’t want to get my hopes up and get crushed… again…

My daughter was a WL kid - got off both Cornell and Duke 4 years ago. It varies year by year. My kid’s year, they took around a hundred, and after that they admitted too many kids, so they didn’t go to the WL.

My guess is this year a lot of schools may go to their WL, the reason is a lot more top students are applying to every top 20 schools. Last year Harvard took close to 100.

You wouldn’t get any notification if you sent in your acceptance of WL. You should get in touch with your regional rep and send in your updated packet.

You are not going to know if they are going to go to their WL until first week of May. If you are serious about getting off WL, you should send in additional information and maybe an essay to say why Cornell is still your first choice.

^This year is different. In a recent article, it was mentioned that Cornell purposefully accepted fewer people this year, and put more people on the waitlist in order to control enrollment more strictly. I would say it is very likely Cornell uses its waitlist this year; I cannot say how extensively they will use it though.

Good luck – either way you will end up at a school that is right for you!

Hello-
I was waitlisted as well. I was wondering if anybody here was going to take another SAT Subject test–I emailed the admissions office and asked if it would get there in time (the test is May 7th) and they said they couldn’t guarantee it, but I should send it anyways. So I was just curious if anybody else was thinking along those lines…the thought of another contribution to the collegeboard does not appeal to me.

Is the waitlist at Cornell ranked? The additional information for waitlisted students did not specifically say, and I know a few other places explicitly mention whether or not their waitlist is ranked.

It could be as early as first week of May, if they are going to the WL. Sometimes they will go as late as June because of summer melt (students getting off WL from other schools, and then they decide to decline Cornell’s offer).
