When will the final waitlist decisions be made? Also, what are the chances based on recent years? Also, how best to get off the waitlist? Thanks.

collegeparent - My D will be attending Kenyon next year, but I don't know anything about the waitlist situation. Did you read the thread below about the waitlist started by valuable? There is a some information about the waitlist on that thread.

my rep said that they filled their quota RD this yr DISSAPOINTING!!! but they usually lose a handful of kids (5-15) due to northeast schools and their waitlists. the rep said they are holding a meeting this wed. to better determine who will come off the list when spaces are available, if any the rep said it is likely someone will come off that list! he highly doubted that they wouldnt take ne1. until then, its hard to determine how many will come off because as the rep said, all the waitlistees will be removed due to "reactive" waitlisting which impacts their applicant pool. They said be4 june 1st, we will know if we will have a place still on the WL, a rejection or an acceptance. He also said Kenyon usually ends their WL no later then mid-june. So chances are, around the 23rd, you should receive some notice. As for how to get off the list, Kenyon seems to emphasize the whole "interest" factor, so visiting, sending additional recs/updates, having an interview, writing a "why I <3 Kenyon" letter, all seem to work. I sent 2 additional recs,a personal letter, grade update, along with 3-4 chats over the month with my rep through email. You need to show that Kenyon is your number one choice and that you will attend if accepted off the list. By the way in past years, 60 were taken, or 12, or 48, etc. It really all depends on how many enroll and how many they lose due to reactive waitlisting. Good luck and I will update you as soon as I know more.
