Waitlist Results

So today, at around 4:30 p.m., Johns Hopkins called my house and asked for me. They confirmed that I had been put on the waitlist earlier, and told me: "I have two spots left to offer in the class. Would you be interested?" I said yes. Does this mean I've been accepted? He said "Congratulations" and he said something would be sent in the mail.

What do you think?

if you're asking this question maybe you shouldn't have gotten that call...

Geez! Harsh words from you guys. I just wasn't sure if Hopkins offered the spot to multiple people thinking that some wouldn't enroll.

haha fusion, read ur first post again, and see if it registers in ur brain, i think ur suffering from Post-exciitement-of-getting-into-a-prestigious-college-and-is-confuzzled-syndrome

Lol, omar. BTW, if anyone ever got that Johns Hopkins Newsmagazine thing that they sent out to applicants, my sister was in it.

congrats fusiondogg!

fusiondogg- you said they said they had TWO spots left, MasterMargarita just posted on another JHU thread that he/she is off the waitlist, what do you think the chances are that the two people who got into Hopkins off the waitlist are CC people?! Kinda cool.......

LOL idk if we're the only two...but CONGRATS to my fellow Johns Hopkins-er!

This is so exciting, I'm just spazzing out. But it would be freakishly cool if we were the only two, and we're both CCers.

Although I bet tehre are more...but you're the only other I've heard of!

(oh and btw I'm a girl--mastermargarita is homage to my favorite book, The Master and Margarita, by Mikhal Bulgakov :-p)

Chacha - I was accepted off of the waiting list as well, but will be declining the offer. I talked to my admissions officer for my region, so I would suppose that that meant that there were two spots left for his "region."

Wow, nice MasterMargarita! I'm deciding between NYU+scholarship and this, but I'm definitely leaning towards JHU and will probably enroll there as the facilities have apparently been recently renovated.

i got in off the waitlist at hopkins and cornell, and i think ill choose cornell

Well Hopkins was the only school I remained on the waitlist at...otherwise, I'd be going to GW Honors program. But I'd MUCH rather go to Hopkins.

You can't go wrong with cornell or hopkins lol

Lucky, Cornell was my first choice, and my ED school. But I got rejected, so I ended up applying to 16 or 18 schools regular decision [My parents were worried I would get rejected by every school I applied to].

Actually, I know someone from my school who applied to 30 schools, and he's going to Johns Hopkins also.

so, any updates on jhu's waitlist stats? how many they're planning to take off and the yield rate?

Has anyone who applied as a transfer for next year heard as of yet?

Okay, guys...they only accepted 30 off of the waitlist thus far.

mastermargarita where did you get that info?

Realestate, Admissions_Daniel recently posted an updated blog where he included information regarding the Class of 2011 wait list students:

Wait List Students
"Earlier this week, the Hopkins Admissions committee did something we have not done in the past two years -- we admitted a handful of students off the wait list. By handful I mean approximately 40 wait listed students were contacted by a member of the Admissions staff and offered a spot in the class of 2011. Congratulations to those students, but for the rest of you please understand that this is just step one in our process."
