<p>im got on the waitlist for hotchkiss! but now im nervous because ive read the waitlists are huge this year!! is it the same for hotchkiss? and if so, whats the best way to get off it?</p>

<p>DanielleGirl, I called Andover today on ther behalf of my daughter who is waitlisted…I was told there are 25 girls on the waitlist this year…I’m not sure about the boy’s. I also asked what the chances were of getting pulled off the waitlist…I was told it differs from year to year. However, the last two years nobody was pulled off the waitlist…hope this helps…Some people think the waitlists are huge…This is not the case at any of the schools…</p>
<p>unfortunately, as you and we both know, 25 girls (plus 25 boys?) is huge compared to zero.</p>
<p>yeah, I have a feeling not many people are going to get off the waitlist this year. (not trying to be mean just trying to face the facts, I am on the Choate waitlist anyways)</p>
<p>It may be huge as we speak…However, around April 10th the list will get significantly smaller…Am I right JayPeeh ?</p>
<p>JayPeeh I agree but I mean who knows, kids who got accepted to Andover and chose to go elsewhere open up spots for waitlisted people so you never know. I have to admit that I think the HADES schools will not admit a lot of kids off the waitlist this year since the acceptance rates were basically slashed in half for some schools…</p>

<p>Any idea? Why Andover admitted fewer this year? Why ndover thought fewer people would decline this year?</p>
<p>I called the admission officer at Hotchkiss and she said there are hundreds of people on the waiting list this year. She refused to give the exact number though. She said several ninth-grade girls will be taken off the wait list this year. Have faith!</p>
<p>I got waitlisted at Hotchkiss and Andover too! Hotchkiss told me that there’re 20 girls waitlisted for 11 GRADE ONLY.
So is 25 the number of girls waitlisted for one grade, or all grades at Andover? If it’s for all grades, the number seems to be a little bit off ?!?</p>
<p>I talked to them yesterday…25 girls total…Remember, less people decline acceptance to Andover as opposed to hotchkiss…I would assume anyway !</p>
<p>Remember the yield is an important factor to take into consideration. Lets say Andover’s yield is 75% and they have 200 spots. They will accept 250 assuming that 50 students will not decide to attend. The waitlist is in place in case the yield is lower than last year. I hate to sound negative but I would hold out in case they decide to go to accept waitlisted students. Good luck, I hope that you get accepted.</p>
