Waitlist Statement needs critiquing

Whatsup guys. I was put on the waiting list and I'm looking for critiques on my written statement that I am going to send in!

Feel free to PM it to me. As my username indicates, I’m an admitted student.

How long should the statement be and what should be in it?

If waitlisted, you should send a packet to Dartmouth, which includes, if applicable, the following: an essay explaining why Dartmouth is your first choice and what you will contribute to the Dartmouth community; a list of accomplishments since submitting your application (which may include updated grades, if they are good); an additional recommendation that sheds light on a different facet of your personality with which the admissions office is unfamiliar; and an essay that conveys something your application doesn’t already communicate.

I’d really caution you about the last essay. Only in rare cases would I see it being applicable. Don’t make the admissions committee waste time reading an essay that doesn’t mean anything.

Feel free to PM me as well. I’m also an admitted student. For your statement, just one page reaffirming your continued interest in Dartmouth and your commitment to attend if admitted and a brief update of your recent accomplishments is enough. I would restrain from the additional recommendation and any additional essays. Does the waitlist letter say what you can do (I know some letters do that, such as Columbia’s, which I just basically paraphrased)?

I sent in my update packet last week. Had a one-page letter that was basically the first essay that DmouthGrad suggested, a short update on awards, and a fairly unique recommendation from my leadership advisor. I’m also planning to send new grades along with another recommendation next week.

I think Dartmouth’s waitlist FAQ mentioned new grades and an update.

I can take a look; I edited one for one of my best friends last week for Columbia! :)

Would anyone be willing to edit mine (it’s for Duke waitlist)

Rishi –

Yes, PM it to me.

Bump!
this will be the weirdest waitlist statement you have ever seen!

bump bump up to the top!

I can take a look if you want. Am currently trying to put one together for Princeton
