Waitlist Statistics for University of Maryland College Park? Help?

I got accepted for the Spring 2014 semester but it said I have been placed on the waitlist for the fall semester. Below is the first part of the letter. I just want to know the likelihood of getting in for Fall 2013. This school is my first choice and I have worked so freaking hard in high school; plain and simple, I want this more than anything. Please help...

"Congratulations! I am pleased to offer you spring admission to the University of Maryland for the semester which begins in January 2014. While we were unable to offer you admission for the fall semester due to space limitations, I look forward to welcoming you into our spring class of entering freshmen.

In addition, please note that you have a place on our waitlist for the Fall 2013 semester. We will notify applicants with final decisions about the waitlist no later than June 1, 2013. Because we are unable to predict our ability to offer admission to any waitlist student, we encourage you to consider alternate plans for the fall semester. One option is taking courses at the University of Maryland in the fall through the Freshmen Connection program. This program for students admitted for the Spring 2014 semester allows you to enroll through the Office of Extended Studies."

The yield is 34% so if you decide to commit to Maryland I say you stand a good chance.

@EmmMurrell,
are you in a position to commute to campus for the fall? If so you can do Freshman Connection (if you don’t get off the waitlist) and you will be able to get housing in the spring.

No one who got wait listed last year got accepted according to college board.

I was accepted to Spring Semester, too. If you choose Freshman Connection you can live in an off campus apartment which holds more than 300 Freshman Connection students. It sounds like you might have a chance of getting into the Fall 2013 semester but if you don’t, keep your options open. If UMD is your first choice, freshman connection is worth it.

And if you opt not to do Freshman Connection, you can take care of required classes and save $$ by taking classes at your local community college. You’ll want to make sure that the courses you take will transfer to UMD, but it should be considered an option.

hey guys I just found this group on fb for UMD class of 2017. Even if you are still thinking about whether or not to go, join the group!
