waitlist stats and questions

Are there official UW stats on those applicants who are waitlisted? I was able to do a google search and found some info from 2006 - but I'm looking for more info - say the last 10 years.

Info I'm looking for: How many on waitlist, how many offered admission from waitlist, how many accepted that spot - etc. And also when did these folks apply. UW has a priority deadline of Dec 1 and it seems that it has no value if you are placed on the waitlist.

I read on some other forums that many UW waitlisted students were ranked and if ranked those students knew what their ranking was? Is this true? If you aren't ranked does that mean there is no hope? I read on the UW website that they don't rank so I'm not sure what's really true.

Are there any stats on students applying before Dec 1 deadline and those being placed on waitlist vs those applying after Dec 1? It seems (from what I've read) that it you apply in mid-Nov and end up on the waitlist your application has been basically forgotten about.

Hey pbagayte I think you’ll find the answer in the “waitlisted” thread…Its somewhere in there.

the admissions office wont tell any of us anything so there are not going to be any stats about how early you apply. the closest i got was a counselor telling me that it doesnt matter how early you apply, they just look at apps in a random order. and idk what thread you have been looking at but no one on here knows anything about ranking. you might have been looking at a grad student thread or something because they do rank the waitlist for graduates, just not for us.

mcf11- did u hear back yet from that email u sent?
