What is the proper etiquette when placed on the waitlist at Brains College, but you get accepted to Hearts University and decide to attend, and actually send in your deposit?

Do you (1) contact Brains College and ask them to remove you from the waitlist?, or (2) keep Brains College in the dark, just to find out how you fared?

I should rephrase my question ---- I know what the proper etiquette is, but what do most applicants actually do? What would you do?

It was just a question, entomom, like a lot of other questions on this board. I’m sorry for taking up the space and your time. Thanks for your response.

im just wondering, and maybe it doesnt work this way.

but if you get a waitlist offer, and then you turn it down, then dont they just go look for someone else? to me, itd be the same as if you werent on the waitlist anyways and then they just directly went to that other person. so from what i see there wouldnt be a problem.

but personally id take my name off, just cuz i wouldnt wanna have to go through the process of turning a school down after i get off the waitlist.

Maybe I’m missing something, but why would you not take your name off the waitlist?

You’re set to go somewhere else. What difference will it do to you if you make the college you’re waitisted at. You’ll either, a.) not care at all since your going to a different school, or b.) feel bad because you wanted to go to that school, but now cant since you committed elsewhere.

I agree with vaib, tsh, and dude. The reason I asked is I’ve seen many students who never tell the waitlist school that they have no intention of attending, whether or not they eventually get off the waitlist. I just can’t fathom…

But maybe I’m missing something. Thanks for your responses.
