I called Barnard and asked-- they said that they'll be getting to discussing the waitlist this week.

I agree, waitlist is the worst thing ever, seeing all others are taken off the waitlist is killing me..
This has to be over ASAP!!!!

I called Amherst yesterday... they say they will know about the wait list by the end of the week. Same for Hamilton and Carleton.

Middlebury says that FROM THE LOOK OF THINGS RIGHT NOW if they go to the wait list they will PROBABLY take only female applicants!!!!!

according to other threads on CC:

Newhouse (Syracuse)
Northeastern

both started taking peeps off waitlist.....please add to list.....

any news from Uva or Umich??

I haven't even heard a whisper of them yet, to be honest, Janice89. It is still early days. Apparently, transfer closing date is not until May 15 in some places, so it could be another little while before we hear anything.

Have you tried calling them to ask? HAve you checked their threads here?

redsexton, thank you for updating the list! There are a number of different threads running about the waitlists so it's hard to stay on top of it. I am monitoring several schools as are many of us.

redsexton
thanks for doing all of this work. do you want to add another category of colleges that are NOT taking anyone from the waitlist this year. or should that go under a separate thread: waitlist failure stories. I just read lehigh is not taking anyone from the waitlist this year according to a post. this is not too surprising since they supposedly took nearly 75% from ED.

You may want to remove Grinnell from your list. Check the posts in the Grinnell forums. One poster contacted them and was told they had gotten more acceptances back than anticipated and most likely would not use waitlist.

Neighbor got a phone call from NYU Stern yesterday, she's in!
I heard the whole family screaming!

I just want to say thanks to everyone who's said thanks to me so far! This thread is a year old as of yesterday, and I'd love to know what happened to the original posters who were in our shoes this time last year! I should point out that I work full time, but I'm on a wait list for Mount Holyoke, and I check here as often as I can. As I don't have time to check individual college threads, I think this thread is great for updates.

I usually keep this page minimized at the corner of my screen, and as another poster asked, I think it would be best if we kept all the Active/Dormant waitlists together. If anyone thinks differently, let me know! I want this thread to be as accessible as possible to everybody.

I want to apologize for how poorly the lists above are formatted! I was hoping to do a couple of cute little tables but, I'm not a HTML queen! I do think, however, once everything is alphabetized, it's useful. Also, I would really appreciate if anyone had any information (like the poster who heard his neighbour's family screaming when she got into Stern!) about active waitlists, please add them! If a particular college isn't of interest to you, someone else like me might be dying to find out about that school! If you don't want to post, PM me and I'll add them for you.

Again, thank you for your appreciation. I will add Grinnell to the Dormant/Inactive lists when we have official confirmation. Realistically, most colleges won't look at their waitlists until they get all their transfers sorted first. The closing date is May 15th for most schools.

Lastly, and thank you for bearing with me, keep the faith. I'm secretly grateful that MoHo hasn't made it onto either list. I, like most of you, would be heartbroken if I found out that my dream college wait list was moving on CC, as opposed to from finding out through an acceptance phone call... I wish all of you the very best.

We're all here with the same problem, so let's all be here with the same optimism. Very high!!

I just saw this posted by fireandrain in the Parents' Forum:

Not sure where to say this, but I just heard a report on NPR (a program called On Point), in which the Rice admissions director said Rice is accepting no one off the waitlist, and that they actually received more enrollees (20-40) than they had budgeted for.

On Point did talk about college admissions today, and Rice University's VP for Enrollment was a guest:
