anyone heard about colgate?

I was in the highest priority waitlist in Umich, but it seems a large number of people are also in this catagory. still waiting…

any updates from Emory?

My daughter has been in " highest priority waitlist" in Umich too, her several friends have been waitlisted in Umich ,but they are not in this " highest priority group", she is still waiting.

Rice’s waitlist is somewhat active. They took seven people:

In April, we requested permission to place your name on the waiting list as an alternate for Rice’s class of 2012. We were pleased by your positive response and I am writing to update you on our current situation. Since May 1, seven students have been offered admission from the waiting list, and at present, the class is full.

In our earlier correspondence we indicated that we would close down Rice’s waiting list on June 30. As you may have read in the newspaper and other media sources, there is an unusually high number of wait list offers going out from many of our peer institutions. Because of the lack of stability among the nation’s most selective schools, Rice has decided to extend the life of the waiting list to July 15.

To update us on your current desire to remain on the waiting list or withdraw from it, please reply online with your login id by May 30, 2008.

Sincerely,

Julie M. Browning
Dean for Undergraduate Enrollment

I don’t know about Harvard being mostly done. My friend got in yesterday.

Dartmouth is active.

[Elite Colleges Reach Deeper Into Wait Lists - WSJ.com](http://online.wsj.com/article/SB121132542836108695.html?mod=todays_us_nonsub_pj)

That 800 number at Uwisconsin is unbelievable…How do you manage that yield???

Very curious to see what happens at UMich as well; just curious given their strange year…

From WSJ article:

The uncertainty led to an abundance of caution at a number of the top schools. As a result, an additional 200 taken from waitlists at harvard & princeton probably resulted 500 more spots opening up at other schools. When H&P, et al, digest the data from this year, much of that uncertainty will be discounted next year. HS class of 09 keep this in mind. Next year won’t be as generous in terms of getting off of waitlists. OTOH, more should be gaining outright admission.

Friend got in MIT yesterday.
Another friend got in Duke two days ago.

yay, cuRRent!
