Waitlist success stories

still waiting on boston college…

me too, balletdancer22!

My friend Eddie got off the Dartmouth wait list a few days ago, and Bryn Mawr sent me a letter this morning telling me they aren’t accepting students off the waitlist now, but might in late June due to the summer melt. Also, the Barnard board has had several students who have been taken off the waitlist.

I cant believe Wake Forest is not giving people that much time to think. Not even a day to confirm?!?! cant u just accept and not withdraw the decision made at ur other school. then decide whether or not ur going to withdraw either. That is tough. I thought they gave at least a week or two. Under those circumstances, I think if Wake Forest offered me admission, I would have to reject but idk.

Brown waitlist confirmed active, apparently 67 people have been taken off this wave and acceptances were sent by mail yesterday. Some people received calls, not sure as of yet if everyone accepted has received a call.

since they took all these people does this mean theyve stopped taking students or will continue

i believe it means they are mostly done. at least at Harvard and Yale, they may take a few more in a second round in June, but the vast majority of offers have been made

My friend got offered admission from Columbia (from the waitlist -duh)but i think hes set on Duke.

mikhalo-

Can I ask when your friend received this offer and was it via email, phone or letter?

Thanks.

I’m moving Oberlin from active to inactive because they are over-enrolled by about 40 students.

On the Wisconsin admissions website, it states that they are just beginning to contact extended waitlisters this week and that they hope to be done by end of June.
Other inactives that I understand are full or overenrolled (Grinnell by 50) and released their waitlists without taking anyone: Grinnell, Davidson, Bates

Even though my D’s Emerson acceptance to MT gave a 5/1 deadline, she got a letter on Monday giving her an extension until 6/1 to send in her deposit. She has made the decision to go elsewhere and actually had already sent Emerson a letter declining their offer, so was a bit surprised to get this most recent letter. Anyway, the point is, Emerson is still filling their slots so if anyone is on the Musical Theater waitlist, don’t give up hope yet.

From Chronicle of Higher Ed:
Indiana had nearly 31,000 applications, an 8-percent rise over 2007, and expects to admit very few students from its waiting list.

Vanderbilt’s cautious approach this year left it with about 100 spots to fill by using the waiting list.

This year Georgia planned to admit a class of 4,800. It offered 1,400 applicants a spot on the waiting list, and nearly 1,000 accepted. The university promised 200 of them that they could enroll next spring. Yet Georgia already has more than enough deposits, so Ms. McDuff figures the university will take no more than a handful for the fall.

This year Dickinson accepted 44 percent of its applicants, rounding out its class of about 600 by taking about 20 students from its waiting list—10 fewer than 2007.

Michigan is unbelievably horrible with admissions, shouldn’t they have an idea about their incoming freshman class this year by now?

Atleast let us know if anybody’s getting off that waitlist.

^^Yes. I really wish Michigan would say something about the status of the waitlist.

Vassar is definitely active, got in yesterday, found out by email after the admissions officer called and left a voice mail. Still holding out a little hope for Tufts
