Waitlist Thread

I, along with many others, was waitlisted. I have some questions, so I figured I'd start a thread where people can ask questions, discuss waitlist stuff, etc.

Anyways, my questions are: how many people were waitlisted? And what are the chances (historically at least; same applies for the # of people on the waitlist) of getting off of the waitlist? Thanks.

Does anybody know if JHU posts the common data set? I've been unable to find it if they do, but if they do compile it, it has historical information on wait-list sizes and the percentages that get off it.

OMG! does everyone get wait listed who do not get in? I don't think so, but I am not sure because its too stunning! Thank you in advance.

JHU rocks!

Some people do get rejected. Don't know how many, but some do.

^^lol sorry but what does that mean? So the people who do not get admitted, the majority get on the wait-list??? Because I thought that not a lot of ppl get the opportunity to be on the wait-list.

I'd assume that more people got rejected than got on the waitlist, but I don't know the percentages for each.

ugh this sucks, I got waitlisted for JHU and for UVA... I'm so confused!

Most people get rejected. It's pretty tough to get on the waitlist at a place like Johns Hopkins.

yea, that's why I'm puzzled that UVA put me on the waitlist as well! (I'm instate)

JHU

Accepts: 24%

Waitlists : 7%
(that return blue card)

Rejects: 69%

I'm not sure if this right though, since JHU's "admitted" statistic might include waitlisted students.

So while I'm probably a little off, that should give you an idea of the sort of numbers we're dealing with. Acceptances are about 20%, waitlists about 10%, and rejections about 70%.

I think the 20%A/10%WL/70%D sounds about right.

Waitlists are not included in Accepts.

Thank you!

Not bad, I guess we'll all just have to keep on keepin' on, eh?

Although, I do have a question. The waitlist e-mail mentioned something about the availibility of financial aid. Does that mean that, in the chance that we do get off the wait list, we may get smaller financial aid packages than if we were accepted regular?

Great... all I need is more waiting

wondering about the same thing as Nurd re: the FA packages....

do the gods conspire to put Spring Break right around decisions time? because I started my break with a rejection letter and now I'm finishing up with a waitlist!

wooooot!

haha, yeah waitlisting is dumb, its basically like deferral...

ironically the reason i decided not to apply EA/ED anywhere is because i didnt want to get deferred and have to wait...

THANKS JHU
