Waitlist to Stern?

hi i got waitlisted to Stern and im still waiting. so i was just wondering if there were ppl out there who got waitlisted/accepted to stern but decided not to go or if any of you guys are waiting for Stern like me :) Also does anyone know about how many ppl get off the waitlist each year?? AHH i really want to go to STERNNNN

i’m still waiting too unfortunately. i fear though that even if i am accepted i will not be able to go due to nyu’s notoriously stingy financial aid. i’m excited about the college i chose to make my deposit at, but it would still suck to be accepted to a top 10 business school and have to turn it down because of money…oh well, i’m hoping my prediction is wrong.

waitlist acceptees get worse fin. aid to begin with and then you factor in the fact that NYU has a bad rep with giving aid and it’s a pretty terrible combination.

Most admissions officers say students can help their causes by obeying the school’s instructions and perhaps sending one well-written letter updating their achievements and explaining why they still should be admitted. Don’t be desperate and badger them but you should make an effort to see how you can increase your chances of getting in.

Stern has a low waitlist acceptance rate and if you really want to get in, you need to show them and convince them in your letter or during your visit.

If you decide to write your letter, make sure it is well thought out. Treat it like a college essay or resume. You can’t have grammatical errors and can’t leave the impression that you are desperate. Make the college want you, not the other way around.

Could you post your stats please? I’m just curious to see.

I applied to BPE and got waitlisted at Stern like a boss.

I wrote a letter, which I thought was compelling.

I called and we’ll know sometime in may, yay!

I was waitlisted at Stern too. I am an International. I too wrote a pretty good letter. I have not called them though. Will that indicate a lack of interest or something? I am fervently hoping that I get in and meet all you great guys next year.

@hiren - When I checked last years posts, some of them heard in early May, sometime around 9 or 10 while somebody heard late around 20th or so. I guees waitlistees will get accepted as the vacancy rises. NYU would not know the exact yield yet, though they would have a farily good idea. May 1 is the postmark date, so they might have not received all the deposits yet.

Lets hope for the best. I applied to Stern only, not BPE.

I was accepted at Stern and I wil not be attending (in the end I could not work out the debt part arrrgghhhh !!) I am sure thre are plenty of people like me so some people will definitely get off the waitlist … hang in there and good luck. It is a great school and I hope to transfer in a year or two.

I am really sorry to hear that Kiwi. It is horrible when a person gets admitted because they have achieved something special and cannot attend a college because of financial reasons. I hope that you can go to someplace really nice and transfer in later. As for me, I will be over the moon if I get into Stern(which one of us will not be if we get in), especially because I was rejected from Wharton ED.

I saw from the other thread people have gotten into tisch and cas off the waitlist, anyone hear from stern?

Just got the call + email. ACCEPTED TO STERN! :D

Just got the email/phone call too  Will be attending. And I sent them a really long letter if anyone wants to know.

LOl I got a call but no email :(

They told me they would be sending me an snail mail acceptance packet in a week.

Also they said three weeks to decide, can anyone confirm.

BTW, I got into BPE

I can confirm the 3 weeks to respond. (They’re actually quite flexible as long as you communicate with them.) I called the admissions officer that offered me admissions this morning. :)

got into BPE!! was waitlisted but do any of you guys knowthe acceptance rate for this program?

congrats guys! see you next year!
and for bpe, we were told that 800 kids applied, and 50 were accepted, so out of those 50 some kids decided not to opt for it. and the dean told us there was a pretty long waiting list so nice job!

Got into Stern!!! Got the email at 2:05 am in my country’s time. (I am international). I can’t wait to meet all of you next year. Congrats to all you guys and my best to all those waiting

Which schools are you acceptancees withdrawing from?

gwss, u still have hope, I think a letter and another letter of rec did it for me.
