Waitlist Too Late for Appeals

So I have this issue. I was placed on the waitlist at WUSTL. I am already accepted at Drake and am planning on attending there. However, I would take WUSTL over Drake. I was unsure if I should have waited until May 1 when all decisions had to be made or if it is too late to send an appeals update. This update would include:

Letter of Appeals from my AP Lang Teacher. Best thing I have ever read
An Updated resume with several updates including
-a 2nd place finish at DECA state competition
-finalist (2 medals) at national DECA competition
-many other small updates on ECs and the like
-a personal letter of intent/appeal.

I waited until this point for two reasons. One, I was unsure about waitlisting. I have heard that students have already been hearing. Can anyone verify this? Secondly, DECA nationals was last week, so, yeah...

I would still update them. Better late than never.

I might caution you not to send every single thing; the quality of the achievements might get lost in the quantity of materials. If the English teacher recommendation is truly the best thing you’ve ever read I would include that, and then in your personal letter mention your achievements at the DECA competition. I’m not sure I would include the resume and the small updates on ECs. I wouldn’t want to risk annoying them with superfluous information when there are a few really good achievements that deserve to be noticed.

Yeah, some people have started hearing back off the waitlist. Honestly, I think it might be too late to “appeal,” but why not try? There is nothing to lose, so why not try? At this point, I would personally still send the things you mentioned (especially a letter of continued interest), but maybe don’t call it an appeal. Just consider it to be an attempt to improve your odds of admission off the waitlist. It isn’t too late to try to make them take you off the waitlist, but it is probably too late to appeal. Just my unqualified thoughts.

^Oh, I interpreted the OP’s post as him trying to update admissions to get in off the waitlist like everyone else.
