Waitlist UCF 2020

Anybody else get wait listed today? My friend and I checked our application portal after being deferred and saw we were wait listed. Kind of bummed because of how many people we knew with lower stats get in.
Stats
-3.84 weighted GPA

  • 12 AP classes
  • 27 ACT
  • 4 honor societies, held an officer position, and volunteered at a hospital for over 100 community service hour.

Are you sure that’s a BAD thing? Or is it a GOOD thing?

To me, wait listed means accepted waiting for an open slot.

If that’s the case, UF acceptances start coming out on Friday apparently, and UCF is the second choice of a LOT of UF applicants. As those folks get accepted by UF, spots may open up at UCF.

If I were in your shoes, I’d call Admissions and ask them what wait listed means. You’ll have to tolerate a six-minute (not exaggerating) voice mail, but once you get through you’ll have a much more clear idea of where you stand.

Yes, my daughter was notified through the portal today also. Same stats as you and dual enrolled-Dean’s List. Very frustrating to have to wait longer. She may go with UNF-still deciding.

Yes I just checked also and my daughter is now waitlisted

We’re in, and were not “waitlisted,” but…

…it would be helpful to others for someone to call and let everybody know what that means.

When did you apply?

October 1st :frowning: was deferred in November.

Last year someone reported that UCF looks at waitlist between April 15 and May 31. They let in 511 off of waitlist last year which was much higher than years prior.

I wonder why they would wait until April. All of the Florida schools have announced acceptances now – what do they have to gain by waiting? Seems like the longer they wait the more people on their wait list would commit to other universities.

The Florida schools exchange info on enrollments. So if a UCF-accepted student sends an enrollment deposit to UF, I think they come off the UCF acceptance list which would create an opening.

Hopefully next week will be the start of some good news for those waiting.

@JimDadinmia They make acceptances knowing that many will not commit- so there really isn’t an opening created. I think the waitlist happens because they have the number of committed students that they feel comfortable with at this point.

They don’t want to be over enrolled, so they can’t just keep giving out acceptances. The closer to May 1 the more accurate their numbers will be. Go look at the disaster that is VT- they over enrolled by 1200 kids last year.

I got some clarification from our college counselor this morning and the above applies only to EARLY DECISION – not what we’re talking about at this point.

Don’t know what I did wrong, but I was correcting my own mistake above. Somehow the software credited the mistake to another poster.

It was MY bad, and my correction.

I got waitlisted too :frowning: I really want to go here.
But my stats are:
Weighted: 5.1
Unweighted: 3.1
SAT: 1130

Extracurriculars:
HOSA-
member for 4 years, won awards at the regional level, and I was historian last year and VP this year
NHS-
Member for 3 years
SWAT-
member for 2 years, President this year
SGA-
Member for this year

I also teach 3-5-year-old kids at my church every Sunday and have planned multiple events for over 300 people.
I have won 2 presidential volunteer service awards for the highest tier.
I am also a varsity swimmer and coach’s assistant.

Anyways I know my SAT is really low but I feel as if I have done so many extracurriculars and the kids that got in at my school barely come to school which is really annoying. I’m praying for yall though.

I was waitlisted as well and the waiting has been so hard for me. I hear Summer 2020 is easier to get into but I hope some spots open up when people start making final decisions around May 1st

i was waitlisted
gpa

  • UW 3.1
  • W 3.3
    -SAT 1120
    -act 23
i’m so scared i won’t get off waitlist. should i do anything or just wait

Brian, I think the fact that you are waitlisted is a good sign. Many schools just recently sent out their acceptances, including UF, and many of those have to be accepted by May 1.

UCF is the #2 choice for a LOT of UF applicants. So as those accepted students enroll at UF, that will open up waitlist positions.

If you get accepted for the summer, all that means is you have to take one ONLINE course during summer B.

So don’t give up hope.

Hi, as April 15th is right around the corner, I was wondering if anyone found out earlier.

My stats aren’t that good
SAT- 1050
UW GPA- 3.5
W GPA- 4.0

With those stats I thought it wouldn’t be good but I was waitlisted and I have a good letter of essay and extracurriculars to help so I think my chances are good.

Did anyone get in yet? And is the waitlist only accepting for the summer semester?

im on the waitlist and haven’t heard anything and i’m pretty sure if we do get accepted then we’ll most likely be given the summer term

Don’t let that bother you. All summer admission means is you have to take ONE online class during Summer B. It’s essentially the same as Fall admission.

have you heard anything yet? i’m still waiting
