i think waiting it out will be okay since you dont have to get back to another college. is the roommate situation something you’re stressing about or do you have a backup plan to that? maybe you can wait until may 1st since the waitlist is on a rolling basis? but if the roommate situation is something that’s stressing you out then maybe request for an expedited decision. either way, i definitely think you can get in with your stats! <3
Hey everyone! This thread has been super helpful recently as we all have been waiting. I got off the waitlist today for Spring 2021. My stats are 3.4 Gpa (Ucf Recalculation is a 3.29) and a 1280 SAT. They also said in the offer that taking classes at a local school while I wait until spring is only optional and isn’t required. Thanks for the help everyone and sending good vibes to all of you!
i was in the same boat as most of you!! I applied to UCF kinda late so i got put on the waitlist back in January. I really wanted to go out-of-state for college and the Florida schools are the only ones my family can afford. My only options were UCF and USF. I was torn because I was waiting for the dates that UCF would review the waitlist and since im trying out for their cheer team, if i made it, it was a possibility to get me off the waitlist. But at the same time, i had already been accepted by USF and their cheer coach offered to sign me onto their cheer team but i needed to give them an answer by april 15th! I was stuck in a position where most of my other options for college required an enrollment deposit by may 1st, and if i waited on ucf to review the waitlist, there was a possibility i wouldnt have a college to go to bc i missed the deadline. so i put in an expedited request and i got accepted! if you wanna know my stats they were
3.5 UW
4.2 W
23 ACT
1140 SAT
and took 4 dual enrollment classes
hey guys so i’m debating on if i should ask for an expedited decision because i’m really scared of getting rejected. here are my stats:
UW: 3.2
W: 3.8
SAT: 1110
Do i have a i good shot of getting accepted?
I feel as though you would have a really strong chance of getting in through an expedited decision, but if you can wait, that would probably be the safer option.
i think you’re good! your SAT score is around the range of people who got in and your GPA is fine too! don’t be too scared, whether you wait or ask for an expedited decision, i think you’ll be okay.
I’m not disagreeing, but why do you say waiting is safer? Maybe there will be more openings in mid-May than there are now? Or are the admissions people thinking the students who are requesting expedited are students who REALLY want UCF?
Of course, I am not sure if I am right. I just would assume that more spots would open up later. At this moment many people are asking for expedited decisions and they have very limited space so I assume they are being far more selective than they normally would be with taking people off of the waitlist. They are probably trying to play it real safe right now and not give out too many spots because they are not yet certain how many students are going to be attending their school. If I would have had the chance to wait longer myself, I would have done so, however I requested an expedited decision yesterday because my parents told me I needed to commit to a school at least a week before May 1st. Also, I don’t think as many people will be sticking around in May considering there is the college deadline on May 1st, so that would serve as a benefit to those who are able to wait till then.
Also, to answer your last question, I think that UCF probably views the expedited decision neutrally because while it may show that the student is interested in the school, I think they realize that a lot of people are asking for it because they have a deadline to meet and don’t have any other choice. I think that what makes the expedited decision so risky is that you are asking for an instant decision and they are being extra selective, and if you get rejected, you cannot stay on the waitlist and continue to wait for another spot to open. All in all, I think waiting would probably be the safer option, but the expedited decision is better in the sense that you get an instant answer and if you have something like housing that you are worried about, you can get that problem solved sooner. At the end of the day, I think either option can work out, it is just up to what the person thinks is right for them.
Also, wow I did not think I would write this much haha.
i am in the same boat as you haha… my second/backup choice is unf but when i researched both schools, i was very intrigued by ucf and how much they have to offer so i fell in love with the school. i am still on the fence of whether i should ask for an expedited decision or wait it out and i don’t want to wait out too long because unf sent me a message saying that i have to commit soon. i think i’m afraid of asking for an expedited decision solely because i feel like my stats are lower than most people in this forum and it makes me anxious and not as confident as being selected since i hear expedited decisions are very selective.
Hey, so I actually have the exact same uw and w gpa as you! I requested an expedited decision on Monday and will likely be hearing back from them on Wednesday or Thursday. I will in fact be posting the results the moment I get them, so if you would like to possibly wait till then and see what happens to me before making a decision, that could maybe work in your favor. (By no means am I saying this is what you should do, it is just a suggestion in case you still aren’t sure.) Anyways, I wish you the best of luck and hope everything works out for you!
it was hard for me to find because the formatting of their website but i finally found it… the deadline to obtain my admission to unf is indeed may 1st so i think at this point, i have to request an expedited decision?? but i think a huge wave of nervousness just went over me because i’m nervous about getting rejection especially with how selective they are during waitlist acceptances
