This might be a ridiculous question, but how do you know if you got accepted to the access program or just the summer term?
Hey Guys, Just wanted to start by saying Iāve been following this thread since March, watching all of the successful expedited decisions, and general questions everyone had. I checked my portal for probably the 3rd time today like Iāve been doing for the past week and saw that Iāve been accepted into the Summer Access program. My stats were VERY low compared to you all.
Unweighted GPA: 3.1
Weighted GPA: 4.2
ACT: 22
SAT: 1010 (after being super scored! so you can only imagine smh)
I did NOT request an expedited decision, however I did request that my counselor send an updated transcript to UCF and two days later, I got in. I also will say that I stayed somewhat updated with my application. If I had a question I either looked here or called the office. ALSO, I will say if you havenāt been accepted YET (and I say yet because you gotta speak what you want into existence!) I may sound crazy but it worked for me lol. Anyways, If you guys have any questions Iād be MORE than happy to answer them. Good luck to you all. Your hearts desire is just around the corner. Go Knights!!
@JimDadinmia is the Summer Access Program at UCF similar to the PACE program at UF? I was wondering. Just curious. I was not aware of either one until I came to this site.
yay! congratulations! hope to get to interact with you during the access program <3
when you open myUCF and see what term they offered you, it will follow up and say they invited you to the access program (this also depends on your stats and itās basically just two courses that help you prepare for the fall term and they chose you specifically because they know youāll succeed and youāre getting extra help, which is good in my opinion).
the access program is INVITATION ONLY. if it just says youāve been offered the summer term and only that then i am assuming you are offered just the summer b term with that one class you have to take, rather than the two you have to take for the access program.
you could research and see if theyāre similar? but the access program is basically invitation only and if invited, you take two courses (one that is strategies or skills course and another one they choose based on your intended major). the access program consists of around 400(?) students that they selected to take this program because they show determination and the admissions committee believed that they can succeed at ucf despite being on the ālowerā end of SAT and or GPA.
the way i view it is that itās sort of like a college preparation course and it really does prepare us for the fall term; you have to complete this summer access program so that youāre admitted into the fall term. i believe this goes on for 6 weeks (starting on June 22nd up until early August) and it is all online due to the campus being closed. more details will come during orientation, which takes place on June 15-16th.
Christine can answer the Access program better, but I believe itās an invitation-only program as she described above. You would receive an invitation.
The summer acceptance would be spelled out in the email you receive from UCF, and also I believe in your online portal. That acceptance is not ONLY for the summer ā itās full acceptance to UCF, but starting with an online class during Summer B.
When you register, youāll register for both Summer B and Fall classes, and youāll apply for housing starting in the Fall term.
Hi, what do you mean by an updated transcript? did it have your Quarter 3 and 4 grades?
Thank you so much! That helped me a lot! I still have a few questions about the payment. I am an out of state high school student and I am assuming that I will be attending the Summer B Term. However Iām confused about what the tuition payment would be for the summer? I know that Summer B is only one class but what would I be paying? I know I definitely wonāt be paying for room and board since it will be online but would I still be paying the total out of state tuition of ~$22,000 for one class?
I also applied in April so I was not able to fill out the FASFA in time to apply.
congratulations to all of those who have been accepted recently <3 . Iāve been pondering on whether I should ask for an expedited decision soon because everyone seems to be getting good results from it. my dad and friends tell me to wait and be patient. what do you guys think? I really need outside opinions
iāve been watching college decision videos recently (kinda late but i just enjoy watching peopleās reactions haha) and most students say that admission has a huge factor, which is luck. i would say to see how your stats are but again, we canāt rely heavily on stats since there were people with higher stats in this forum that got rejected. your overall application should highlight other parts of you rather than just your stats so hopefully your application shines!
at this point, i am not sure? i havenāt heard any rejections after may 1st so i am assuming there are more spots available?? i think you should go with your gut feeling; i started telling myself to wait; however, everyone kept getting accepted and it made me worry that there was no space for me so i changed my decision and requested for an expedited decision.
i personally think there are probably a few more spaces available and if youāre going to request an expedited decision, i would recommend now to the 15th to request one because i still believe that once may 31st rolls over, that is ucfās last chance to get in their last batch of students that they want. waiting is fine but just know that the waitlist is a rolling decision!
@kellychris Hey, so depending on how your high school does it -mine does it through Naviance- they will send your final high school transcripts to the school of your choice. My counselor however, told us that if we needed our transcripts to be sent in again before the āfinal oneā to let her know. So if i was just thinking logically my transcripts would have the grades that I have now and from previous years (3rd and 4th). Also admissions highly recommends asking your high school to send in your transcripts now because chances are it increased since the pandemic (which mine did since I first applied)
First of all, CONGRATULATIONS!
Second, OMG NO! You will only pay for one 3-hour class! And I believe the $200 enrollment deposit is credited toward that class.
@imaginarysense At UCF you pay by the credit hour- not by the semester. So for OOS it is $748.89 per credit hour. A typical class is 3 credit hours, so $2,246.67 for the class. There are fees for some classes, but they are typically not that much. There is also a distance learning fee that is tacked on for online learning- but UCF should not be charging that since no one has the choice but to be in an online class!
Some advice about online courses. D18 has taken 4 total- 1 GEP course and 3 in her major. None of them have included a lecture, there is literally no teaching from the professor. She reads the book, works through modules and teaches the class to herself! Make sure you pick classes that you think you can do well in without a lecture.
have any of you taken the math placement test yet? iām not sure if i wait for an email in order to take it or something else. i found the site for taking the test but donāt know what to do past that.
Hey! I asked for an expedited decision on Wednesday and I checked myucf yesterday, sadly I didnāt get it. My backup school is Fiu so I will be attending there, but I wish you all goodluck if you are still waiting for a response!
Hey @jeneric, how do you know if this class has a lecture or not?
@geonmie Weāre in the same boat. It wonāt allow me to set up my Knights Email and it tells me to register for Orientation, but when I do, that page says I havenāt payed my deposit. Not sure if youād know or not but thereās specific days for Orientation right?Like is the table of dates that they have still in effect but online?
