what? they closed the waitlist today? the international director of admission told me that they will still have a few weeks to decide...Oh...this is so sad....

Today? Really? but they were still making calls :(

No, reread the post:

At my D's school where she is admitted (and increasingly looking like will attend...unless WashU calls) they also had a HUGE waitlist. Guess what? NOBODY got in. They have a very good retention rate I suppose.

And they closed their wait list today. Lots of sad faces over there.

The poster is referring to her daughter's school (not Wash U). Correct me if I am wrong, though.

I wish WashU would be a bit more informative as to how much they'll use their waitlist. I've emailed/called them (2 separate instances) about it, and actually spoke to the same person both times, and got an extremely vague answer that didn't actually answer my question, and went something along the lines of "Thanks for your patience, it's a very long process..." I appreciate their response... but ahhh it's so painful to wait.

Superpengwin2, hope you the best. Every time I said the ones called should respond as soon as possible, it is to avoid the suffering for those who are still waiting for an answer. People who don’t want to enroll should be honest to say it leaving the opportunity to those who want to go to Wash U or any other college. Good luck!:)

Sorry, I guess I was not clear enough. The wait list closed at the school where my daughter was admitted and we made the deposit in the Northeast. A very selective northeastern private school with ethics and ethos. We are delighted to be going there. The ONLY school that could upset the apple cart is WashU. We turned down several schools, including two prestigious scholarships at a midwestern school and a southern school. Not being arrogant or pompous or braggadocious. Just picking the school that is a "best fit" for my D. One man's heaven is another man's hell.

If I pleased anyone here with my posts and was able to provide some healthy thought and analysis, then I am grateful I was able to connect and provide you with some help. I like to help people. Not that I am an expert. Just one opinion among millions.

We are STILL waiting on WashU. If we get the call we will likely go there. But while hopeful, we are not deluded and neurotic about it.

If we don't, we tip our hat to those who got in, wave good bye and then focus and "BOND" with the school where we placed the deposit.

If we get in, you will be the first to know. If we don't.....so long, farewell, auf wiedersehn, adieu.

Its been fun. I enjoyed being here and reading your posts.

Sign me,

Stealthy okra eater.

okk so im waiting for the waiting list response too.... can somebody tell me if they are accepting people already or whats up withh it... pleaseee..!!!!
thanxx

They are, I got my package and sent back my YES!!!!!!!!:) , and they sent me a T-shirt, decals and a key chain.

completely OT i know, but does anyone know how to attach a decal -_- I didn't find a sticky adhesive on it, so i wans' sure exactly what to do.

Decals don’t have sticky part, just put them on the clean glass surface and that’s it.

Is WashU done with its calls off the waitlist? Is the party over? Are those still on the list who didnt get calls between May 8-15 effectively locked out now and done?

Its the bottom of the 9th and everyone needs to know or move on.

Thanks.

i called the office and its closed today

Are you saying the office was closed today or the waitlist was closed today? Eager to know!

oh in sorry the office was closed today

To the international ppl on the waitlist....let's keep in touch, cuz they told me that they will decide in the next few weeks about the international waitlist....

Wow, you have no idea how freaked out I got.

Daniel, where are you from?

Well, that is random but Visalia Ca.

Wait lists are not closed. I recently sent new info and they said they entered it today. Generally, that means its not entirely over.

i called today and they told me that they are continuing to use the waitlist
did anyone get calls today

There's no way in hell I'll accept an offer of acceptance from WashU at this point. WashU told my college counselor that they didn't admit enough people from the original applicant pool to fill up their class. This is why they're taking loads of people off the waitlist. They wanted to fill up their class after all the responses came back. I realize that this is a result of the housing crunch they experienced last year, but personally, I hope this backfires on them because this isn't fair to all the people who really wanted to go. They got dragged through this torturous process by a school that doesn't care about the people who want so desperately to go there.
