I wasn’t accepted off the waitlist. I guess I’m going to James Madison University. I’m relieved to finally know where I’m going yet a little sad I wasn’t accepted.
@medapop - JMU is a great school!! That little sadness will go away and be replaced by joy, excitement and fun!
@medapop Some kids from our school are at JMU from NY and LOVE it! Good academically and nice campus and great social life! Thats’s a great choice! I agree with @brucemag. The sadness will quickly be replaced with happiness at orientation I am guessing when you see the amazing people you will be going to school with and how nice the campus is!
@brucemag Penn State!! Congrats! A tough school to get into and a fun and academically amazing one to be at! Sorry about the wait list and then email today. We are prob next in line… Sometimes emails go out in batches due to server limitations so… but It is exciting to hear students final decisions on colleges. All great ones I am hearing from folks on CC!! Did your portal change from waitlist to applied status today?
Admissions is still saying today to my friend zero people were taken from wait list this year and notifications going out soon.

According to the article on UDaily, the freshman class will be approximately 200 students over target. This could be why they are not taking anyone off the waitlist.
I feel sorry for all of you not accepted off the waitlist since it’s taken so long, first to be put on the waitlist and then to be notified. Best of luck to all of you wherever you go.
My D still hasn’t received any correspondence regarding the waitlist. She accepted Spring admission with fall waitlist
Is anyone else in the same situation? Maybe they are staggering the emails?
My D is in the same situation. We haven’t heard anything.
Maybe, just maybe @BDKmom @DVL123 @tennisgirl6 …maybe accepting Spring puts your daughters in better position to make Fall from the wait list? Seems interesting to me that your three daughters haven’t heard yet and all three seem to have put deposits down for Spring and elected to stay on Fall wait list. I’m rooting for them!
Thank you for ur optimism @brucemag!!! Fingers crossed!!!
I suspect people will hear very, very soon-perhaps even today, as it is May 15th.
My son hasn’t heard anything yet either. Wait listed for Fall and deposit sent in for Spring. I’m beginning to wonder if he was actually on a wait list. I expected to hear something this week like everyone else but still no word.
@NWCTdad - that fits in the trend of others who haven’t heard: spring deposit paid. My son paid deposit for Spring because he was interested in DC; when they filled up UD returned deposit because he wasn’t interested in starting at UD in spring. He heard earlier this week that he would not be taken off the fall wait list. Meanwhile, there are at least 4 of you on CC who haven’t heard back yet about Fall. I’m thinking maybe there’s a chance that those who showed the commitment to enroll in Spring may have a shot, still, to get in for the fall. (Having an alternative plan in place for fall would still be a good idea!)
There are always a small number of individuals who submit a deposit for the Fall and then decide after May 1 not to atttend UD for a variety of reasons (I would gues most commonly deciding at the last minute to go elsewhere even though they would lose the deposit). Perhaps UD has been waiting to see if they receive notification from any of these individuals. If so dorm space would become available and it would make sense to move some of the Spring admits to these spaces (they would need to have the space for them in the Spring anyway and why not get the tuitition/fees for an additional semester). Of course this is just a guess on my part. Unfortunately I have not been very lucky with my guesses this year with all the craziness we have seen in the admission process. Good luck.
Well, that glimmer of hope didn’t last long. My son just got the official email stating that there is no room to take students off the wait list this year. He didn’t get in so we have some decisions to make soon. My guess is that he will attend UD in the spring and go to a local CC this fall.
Totally stinks. I guess we should get the same email soon.
I’m sorry.
Just got the depressing email.
I certainly am also sad with the outcome. At the least this whole process is over and students can now move ahead with their college plans. I wish the best to all those who submitted deposits for the Spring and while it is not the ideal way to traditionally start college hopefully those who decide to begin in the Spring can adapt and adjust to the situation. At the very least this could save you some money if you attend CC in the Fall. This can mean a lot 4 years from now. Again best wishes to all.
