I was waitlisted March 1st after applying EA and my application being completed October 28. Does anyone know how competitive the Nursing program is and how many people are admitted? I was admitted to Northeastern, UDel and Penn State Nursing but waitlisted at Uconn..
My stats:
4.3w/3.5uw
27 act
100+ hours comm. service, honor roll, NHS, leadership roles, job, etc.
Also, i currently take 2 Uconn classes at my high school and have an A average

I believe the nursing program is pretty competitive and they accept only a small amount of students each year. It is one of the harder programs to be admitted into. I think you already have some great options though…

I know it’s just a cost factor and because UCONN is in-state it is considerably cheaper.

wow, son was just waitlisted too at UCONN, he battled Leukemia throughout HS, in remission now!!!

accepted to other great schools just a major cost factor for us!

The UConn Nursing Program is extremely competitive. I know one person who’s ever been accepted into that program. She attended a private academy, had stellar stats when she applied and had an impressive summer job at her local hospital.

When I look at your stats I’m shocked that you weren’t accepted. I realize it’s competitive, but you seem qualified. I’ve said this before in another post, UConn admissions is known as being unpredictable in their admissions process, it’s a strict gamble with them.

Is there a chance to come off the waiting list before end of May?

I don’t think so :(

Guys, I got waitlisted too
Wahhhh.
I applied ACES Pre-pharm

My D was accepted into nursing program (with lesser stats - go figure) but looks like she will have to turn it down. As an OOS the financial aid didn’t come through for her. She is very disappointed but UMass will be 40K cheaper after all 4 years. Maybe there will be a spot for you. Good luck!

If I accept the waitlist and get accepted into the program in the coming months, does that mean I have to take the offer? Or can I decline? Can I decline beforehand? Is it like ED where I have to withdraw all my other acceptances?

Just wondering how the process works.

you can accept a place on waiting list without obligation to go. You should put a deposit on your second choice school. Then if 1st choice admits you off waiting list, they will give you a short time ( like 2 days) to accept a spot or decline. If you do accept, however, you will lose deposit money put on second choice school. Depending on school that could be $200-400.

Oohhh, okay.
Thank you very much trapom! Very helpful!
UConn isn’t my first choice, but I accepted the waitlist position anyways so I can wait to hear back from my other school’s FA package.
