@circlemidnight,
I think I do…have fun at Choate next year! I’m really happy for you.

yes, i second that congrats times a million, honestly i am so jealous hahaha! good luck next year !

I wish both of you the best next year too. If I’m not mistaken, DiveAlive, you’ll be trying for the UWCs, so your BS applying experiences are probably really going to help you! And you too, ifax, re-apply to the schools you applied to this year. You seem to be a really nice person, so keep on persevering!

Psst…let’s keep the name on the down-low, please. I don’t want a horde of strangers to find out.

What I have heard from one source is that some schools contracts become binding after July 1st so if there is a chance of coming off a wait list it will likely be in the next couple weeks.

I was taken off a waitlist too, but I won’t say which school right now. I was waitlisted at multiple HADES. I’m very thankful :)…this was so unexpected.

Why is school name such a hush? I thought youd enter your school in the master list so everyone can see. Did I miss something here?

I suppose some of you are keeping quiet about the schools because you’re still undecided about what you’re going to do? Otherwise, I think it would be a service to others on the board to let them know where you got off a waitlist–if not now, maybe after you send in the deposit?

I’m not ashamed of where I’m going-it’s just that I’m extremely surprised, and I almost can’t believe it. I’ll tell you when everything is official-it still boggles me that I have gotten off.

@circlemidnight I understand completely what you mean…I am always one to make sure everything is completely sorted out before saying too much, and also being careful not to give too much of myself away on a public forum. Congratulations on getting off of a waitlist (especially if it is the waitlist I think it is).

Very few applicants have had success from the waitlist in recent years. Or at least, very few have reported success. To identify the school now might be like identifying him/herself, by tying the online identity to the real life identity, a practice we try to discourage.

Yeah, that’s kind of my main worries. What if I was the last kid taken off the waitlist? I’d feel really lucky, but I’d kinda feel bad too.

Yes, it’s a good thing to keep your identity private. Congratulations!

I see that. On the other hand, the only place the kid would be identifiable is at the school itself–and frankly, schools could figure out the identity of the majority of the students/parents who post more than a handful of times–if they wanted to be bothered doing that.

For me a far safer rule of thumb is to never post anything on line I wouldn’t be comfortable saying face-to-face or (depending on the content) having published in a local paper. In my opinion, basic civility, common sense, and a sense of moderation are lost way too often on-line because of people’s (often false) sense that they are completely anonymous.

That said, Periwinkle and PEA Teacher win the prize for contributing frequently and well while effectively hiding their identities. :)

Off the Andover wait list!

wow, congrats, andover’s WL is notoriously hard to get off of :-O

Thanks, I am so psyched, I can not wait!

Congratulations, Andoverfinally! I hope you have a wonderful time in Andover-it’s an amazing school!
