How does the waitlist look for this year?

Well some people have said that the yield would go down in correlation to the increase in applications. They accepted about the same number of people as last year so I’m really hoping that is true.

However, waitlist admissions were always unpredictable, and looking at past years data, it doesn’t look so good for us… Apparently they didn’t accept anyone off the SEAS waitlist for the last two years, and no one from CC either in 2009. Even when they took people off the waitlist, the acceptance rate had been ridiculously low.

Currently I’m trying very hard to fall in love with the school I will probably be attending this fall. I want to forget that I am on the waitlist for Columbia but that’s not working out to well…

It’ll be interesting to see what happens, since yield could also go up with the USNWR rankings boost.

On the bright side, though, I just turned down my spot yesterday, so I hope it helps a CCer out :).

@ unlocked: I remember seeing you on my other thread regarding Columbia’s waitlist. I really, really hope it works out for both of us!

Let’s hope for the best

@calgirl15: yes I really hope it works out for us! I mean Cal is a pretty awesome place but it would be awesomer if we both end up at Columbia haha. Fingers crossed!

@unlocked and @calgirl15 lets hope it work out for all three of us! Did you guys send in a letter? Oh and out of sheer curiosity @unlocked where will you attend if you dont get in off the waitlist?

I’ll be attending UC Berkeley (Cal) for engineering-undeclared (paid the deposit and all). I sent off a letter quite late, only a few days ago. I didn’t really have any updates so the letter was very brief and not really interesting…

@ dlambi: Yes, I sent in a letter, along with a list of new awards/honors that were not listed on my original Common App. I also submitted a music resume and a glowing letter from my music teacher (I was originally going to send Columbia an arts supplement for piano but couldn’t get my music recorded, so it was never sent).
