Hi, how likely is it to get accepted from the waitlist? I know 1027 out of about 2000 people who accepted the offer got accepted last year and that it will be different every year, but do a lot of people get accepted? Because people told me to think of waitlist offer as more of a rejection so I’m really worried. UC Davis is my first choice school so I want to get in also, how does the process for accepting waitlist work? I heard admission officers look for any majors with vacancy so if there’s a lot of spaces for one major, then admission officers accept applicants from waitlist to fill the vacancy? Thank you!

It’s very unpredictable. Everyone on the waitlist is highly qualified and this year they received over 60,000 applications. It depends on how many people SIR to UC Davis because then they can determine which majors have more room. Then they’ll turn to the waitlist and appeals.

Like admitted said, it’s very unpredictable. Last year they had 1,027 and the year before that it was in the double digits (mid-20’s I think).

Actually in 2012 only 12 people got accepted from the waitlist! It’s crazy

Someone called the admissions office for something and they told him that basically they underestimated the percentage of students who would SIR out of those who they accepted. They threatened to rescind people who don’t keep their second semester grades up to standards since an overwhelming amount of people SIR. If this is true, I’d have to say that the amount of people they accept off the wait-list is going to be very small if they accept any at all to be honest. Hopefully they were exaggerating and y’all get accepted off the wait-list. G’luck! I wish you guys the best.

Awh…no…
