I had a 4.0 GPA unweighted in highschool, and am taking classes part time at the local state school (not an amazing school but also not bad) and also have a 4.0 there with 17 hours the first semester, made the presidents list, etc. Currently enrolled in calc 2, AP physics, gen chem, etc. which will translate to over 18 hrs this semester, unless I bomb my finals I will have a 4.0 again. 32 ACT, 34 math & science.

Honestly, I’m not sure why I wasn’t accepted, but do I have a chance at the waitlist?

When did you apply? Mines has rolling admission so maybe there’s not enough spot?

So, are you transferring? Sounds like you already finished high school? As previous poster asked, when did you apply? I too have heard that the later you apply in the year your chances dwindle.

I applied in early November, but I didn’t receive an email saying that my application was complete until the last week of December. No idea why it took so long to process …
I’m still technically a senior in high school but I took the classes part time on campus at a local college (I’m surrounded by about 7 I think). So I’m familiar with colleges and everything, for the most part.
I’m going to be going to Clemson this fall, which the more I look into it, the more I think I’m going to love it. I originally only wanted to go to Mines for the petroleum program, but now I’m not as sure that I want to major in Petroleum. Minor maybe, but I honestly have no idea what type of engineering I want to study. I might transfer after two years if I can keep a 4.0 again or >3.8 at Clemson.
I just don’t get why I’m seeing so many people with lower scores and no college experience who were quickly accepted when I wasn’t.

Have you called and asked why you were waitlisted? It might’ve been a mistake (Unlikely but possible). At least you would get an answer as to why they waitlisted you. Also, if you do decide to transfer later, the average GPA for accepted transfers is around 3.3 so it might be a little bit easier for you to get accepted.

I never called, but that probably would’ve been a good idea… Like you said, at least I’d know why. I feel like its a little late now though, oh well.
Hopefully ill keep a gpa above that and be able to transfer if I want to in a year or two … Thanks!

I don’t think it’s too late, I’d still shoot them an email. Good luck!
