My niece was waitlisted…does she have any chance of getting in? How long does it take for them to make a final decision?

was she waitlisted from regular or early decision?

Regular decision

interesting. i didnt think barnard waitlisted anyone.

it all depends on how many of the accepted students decline the offer and how much physical room there is left after May 1st's response.

she should send additional stuff to the college though...to show enthusiasm/interest/etc.etc.etc...

I got waitlisted too... better than I expected, after that whole login thing, I prepped myself for a rejection. Does anyone know last years waitlist acceptance rate??

no clue. i was waitlisted as well. this makes me a bit pessimistic for thursday. le sigh

Last year was a very flukey 0%. Yield was unexpectedly high and Barnard actually overenrolled by more than 20 people, so they certainly didn't have space for waitlistees.

That means nothing for this year, though. But as a general rule for waitlists... though you should by all means send updates and all that, you should expect to enroll elsewhere. Hope for the best, plan for the worst. But good luck to those of you that are hoping.

i got waitlisted too....but I got into Smith...I would have had a hard time deciding between these two schools anyway...

Got home today and am waitlisted at both Barnard and Wellesley. Probably should have spent more time on the supplements or done an interview or something. But honestly why wait around for a waitlist over going to UCLA? Bruins 2010! (Unless I get into my other private schools).

FIDDLED: i feel the same way.
BRUINS 2010!!!! yayyyyy. final four baby :)

Yay I'm not alone! You'd think UCLA acceptance would indicate good things...

I should have applied to an obnoxious amount of safety schools so I could have a nice long list to gloat over. Except, really what's the point? I wouldn't have gone to any of them anyways.

I won't give up hope completely until Saturday I guess. I applied to competitive schools, and I knew that. I should be proud that I tried (Even if my poor testing skills on the SATs are screwing me over.)

Bruins yes? Right? Right. :)

so, fiddledd, you are pretty much my new best friend.
i couldnt agree MORE && im really trying hard to follow by the everhelpful mantra of
" just wait til saturday! "

<3 you rock.

Well, maybe since Columbia is bigger, we'll get in there. (Haha, I live in my own little denial land).

My mom's ready to go out and starting buying me UCLA clothing. And honestly, I'm a Cali girl filled with school spirit mojo. In 4 months I can become the biggest UCLA fan in the world.

fiddledd & carebear: mark me as your classmate b/c i just got rejected from Barnard, waitlisted from Wellesley but i'm pretty much ready to send my SIR to UCLA. go ucla! it's especially appropriate because they're going to the final four in basketball. awesome.

Waitlisted at Wellesley too!

I think I just found my UCLA best friends, lol!

Ok, if Harvard, Columbia, or Amherst (also waiting on UCB but whatever to them) accept me this week, I'll go there. But most likely I'm not getting any love from any of those schools...

I still consider it an accomplishment that I was only deferred EA for Harvard and was not one of the 200 to be flat out rejected.

ETA:

Oh and I am starting to think this is so cosmic way of telling me that I just reaaaaally need boys at my school.

I got WLed to Barnard, accepted to Wellesley. Totally unexpected. What exactly happens when you're waitlisted? So, you send $300 to a college by May 1st. If they accept you, you waste $300 and send another check to Barnard?

The worst thing of it is:

I really need to stop posting here and do my homework. My Mom is at work reading all the CC boards on Wellesley and Barnard. She called me a minute ago and tried to correct my spelling.

At least she's taking it well...

I got waitlisted from Barnard and accepted to Sarah Lawrence on the same day, but I like Sarah Lawrence better anyway. Unfortunately, their financial aid is evil, so it looks like it's going to be USC for me :-)

Dos: yep, that's how it works.
