i've been waitlisted too. i applied for a lot of financial aid, so could someone please tell me whether IF i am accepted later, will i be offered aid?

...you will be offered financial aid if you do get accepted later on...

When you log in to check your decision, click the link on the right that says "Frequenty Asked Questions."

There, number 8 says, "If I am admitted from the waitlist, can I still receive financial aid?
Yes, students admitted from the waitlist will be eligible for financial aid."

What exactly does the waitlist letter say?

Dear Julianne,

The Selection Committee has carefully reviewed your application for admission to the University of Pennsylvania's Class of 2010, and although we are unable to offer you admission at this time, you have been placed on our Waiting List.

This year nearly 20,500 candidates applied for 2,400 places in the freshman class. Among them were a small number of individuals like yourself who presented an interesting personal profile and could make a contribution to the University community, and yet could not be included in the class at this time. This select group of applicants will be reviewed in the coming weeks in the event openings become available in the class. Our Waiting List is not ranked so we are unable to predict who may receive an offer of admission. However, we will attempt to give you information about the status of our waiting list as soon as possible, and the entire process should be completed before July 1. Please return the reply card you will receive with your letter before May 1st indicating if you wish to remain on the Waiting List.

If Penn is your first choice, I realize this decision places you in a difficult position. In the past several years we have been able to accept very few students from our Waiting List. Therefore, I suggest that you secure a place at another institution to ensure the continuation of your educational plans in the event that we are unable to admit you.

On behalf of the Admissions staff, I want to thank you for your interest in the University of Pennsylvania and for your patience and extend to you all best wishes for your further education.

Sincerely,

Willis J. Stetson, Jr.
Dean of Admissions

thanks for the quick reply peachykween

waitlisted at all the ivies i applied to...i think i'm sick of "the machine"

waitlisted too :(

bump...

does anyone know any stats for waitlists for previous years?

you just have to start campaigning the hell out of yourself for them to know how much you want their school, slim chances but hey you never know and update them constantly when you do something great or get a great grade, my step sister got in off the waitlist for Penn.
