I recently found out that I have been wait listed by UW. I have a 3.76 and have taken 4 AP 2 honors courses. I got 1650 on my SAT. I am also SUPER involved with clubs & I play tennis. I’m crushed by this news and don’t know if I should move on or still have hope. I applied for the list and sent my grades in. I got a 3.9 last semester so I hope that will increase my chances? I am in state too. Any advice? Comments? Should I give up? This has been my dream school sense I was 8. Can you guys tell me my likeliness of getting in? Be brutally honest.
Idk, but I found out that i was waitlisted too and UW has always been my dream school…but since there are SO many applicants this year and the acceptance rate is like 15%, so I imagine the people they chose would want to go…
I have 15 students in my AP gov class that got in. Almost all are denying because they are going to ivy leagues or top military schools and UW was their “backup.” There is still hope. best of luck to you!
Ivy decisions aren’t out yet for most of them – and some will stay home due to cost. Colleges admit more than they expect will accept, too – so hey may or may not use the waitlist much.
@coffeedrinker12 you have a higher gpa but lower sat than me and played tennis. i personally got into uw by appealing the wait list and I think you could have a good chance of getting in from the wait list. it might be too late to appeal (there isn’t a due date but since it takes the admissions committee to review and accept or deny your appeal 1 to 4 weeks) it might be easier to just wait til may 15 for uw to start mailing off wait list acceptances. best of luck
@UWdreamin you are very kind. I already appealed a while back and they turned it down so it’s not looking good. Thanks though
@coffeedrinker12 don’t give up hope though!! uw takes a pretty good amount of people off the wait list from what I hear and I had a friend (2 or 3 years ago) who got off the wait list in August. plus you’re in state and got a pretty great transcript.
I appealed as an out-of-state rejection. I had a 4.3 GPA / 2040 SAT / 33 ACT / National Merit, USAD Nationals, BPA Nationals, JEA Nationals, and Idaho Journalist of the Year titles / volunteering and whatever else – it was super super selective this year. I ended up getting accepted as an appeal, but I think I may have also appeared to be an outlier amongst the other appeals. Appealing won’t hurt you at all–the best thing you can do is try, in my opinion! I wish you the best of luck!
