Those of you off the waitlist -- did they offer you any money or will you go and pay full price?

they haven't put my financial aid package together but they said one is coming, so we'll see.

they sent me an email saying that i was expected get 18K as a package... and then they broke it down for me, but im still not sure.

its not enough..... but... ill wait for the formal letter to actually see.

on myneu it won't tell me my official offer yet.. which is odd, because it should.

darn. is everybody waitlisted accepted already? I still haven't gotten anything yet. MAD ;{

They do it in waves.

I am not going, so... thats another spot free.

18k isnt bad... is this the main reason you decided to not go?

don't forget you have the co-op periods to help pay for a decent portion of the cost...not to mention it's a great way of having at least some job experience and security once you get out of school...

they only offered me 10k in free money(5k in scholarship and 5k in institutional grants), as well as 5k in federal loans...which equals 15k...

co-op will cover about 10k...estimated costs were 43k...

43-25 = 18k per year... (that's not a terrible number at all)...the rest can be done in loans, and/or through contribution from parents, or a combination of them and a summer time job, etc...northeastern makes it very manageable... unless of course you decide to not co-op...that changes everything...

Hey fierce kitten712,

what was the program u applied into for neu?
engineering by any chance??

I'll have to wait til June 1st to know. You guys got yours pretty early. But just to be safe, I am going to pay the deposit for my other school.

I chose UCI over NU because they gave me a full ride, and.... well, it's freaking UC Irvine.

And I live in CA. I'm not ready to make that jump yet, and lose all that money, especially not for NU.

And I want to go to grad school after only 4 years of college, not 5. It was my personal choice.

I would have been a journalism major.

Have fun NU kids!

Fiercekitten,

There is a four year option for journalism majors. But hey if you want to be in Cali, well okay.

that's a shame... :(

many of the journalism co-op students end up working for the best papers in the country (boston globe, new york times, etc)... but hey, maybe you'll get on the LA times or something.

UCI is a great choice, best of luck to you :)

Just as an FYI, the director of Northeastern's Journalism program, Stephen Burgard, was the Editorial Page Editor of the L.A. Times. He is quite connected in the industry (esp. in California).
