Waitlist

Wonder if scholarships are still available by the time you may get off the waitlist . Thanks for any input.

My daughter was offered a spot off the waitlist in the Class of 2021, in May when we asked as soon as she was offered her spot we were told all funds were distributed.

Thanks so much for the info. We are OOS and will just accept at one of the other schools that offered a scholarship. Like Clemson alot but since his stats put him the $7500 per year scholarship range or $30 k total cant justify attending if get off the waitlist and no funds left. Congrats and good luck to everyone.

We’re OOS too, it’s worth a call to admissions office just in case. It may depend.

Thanks. Maybe get on waitlist and contact admissions like you suggested.

As other people have posted coming off the waitlist is a possibility. We spoke the admissions officer day after accepting wait list they expect the students to demonstrate interest emails and/or follow up calls. Also include Dept. Heads. My daughter loves being a Tiger and it was well worth the patience and wait. Each year numbers can vary all depends. From 2017 ,
2649#offerred spot on waitlist
924#students accepted spot
876# students admitted off list
Go Tigers

@BeachtimeinNC My son was waitlisted. He will accept and send a letter or continuing interest. Is there anything else you did or suggest doing? If he calls the admissions office, is it just to reiterate his interest? TIA

Call and/or email admissions and dept. head once on waitlist. indicate Clemson is his first choice if that’s true. Follow up in March and April. Remember waitlist is not a guarantee, but it’s not a no. Are you able to visit ? We had already visited when my daughter was a junior, so we did not visit again once she accepted WL. Good Luck.

Hi my son hasn’t heard yet and at this point we’re hoping for waitlist since his hacks never changed. He really thought he had a good chance (3.75 WGPA and 1370 SAT). School doesn’t rank. He did apply for engineering though. Is there a way you can tell if you’re waitlisted? Do you have to register online? Really hoping he wasn’t denied!

Same exact stats as above and waitlisted but OOS

@momofthreeinma if he hasn’t heard anything at all yet, I would call admissions. I think they are giving decisions over the phone now since the week of the 15th has passed.

@momofthreeinma My son had similar stats (3.7 GPA, SAT 1330), and applied to engineering (Civil) as his first major option too. He didn’t get it either, but got his second choice major (Construction Science & Management in College of Architecture). CoE is very competitive at Clemson, just like many other top schools.

@Lenoir I don’t get the impression that scholarships are “running out”, but merit scholarship selection is pretty tough. I have written financial aid/scholarships. They dig deep into applicants from non-ranking schools. They figure it out. While their website states that students not in the top 10% of their class with high stats will still be considered for scholarships, they told me that they never award a merit scholarship to anyone not at LEAST in the top 15% of their class. So, for whatever reason someone is put on a waitlist, also may be the reason they do not get awarded a scholarship.

Thanks . My son had high enough stats for a Clemson scholarship but he was waitlisted anyway .His school ranks and he did well. The ability to qualify for a scholarship was one of the reasons we applied to Clemson and other schools . So I wondered if would be any money left by the time he may get off the waitlist. So for now accepted to U of Florida, USC ,WVU, OSU and Penn State. Waiting for scholarships from some and already received from others. So I guess my question went to should we even wait for a scholarship at Clemson , seems like probably not .Thanks for the information. Everyone good luck.

@Lenoir Ohio State has an excellent reputation in engineering, higher than Clemson according to some sites. I went there 20 years ago for my graduate degree and loved it. It only got better since then.

DS just got an email. He was accepted off waitlist into Bridge to Clemson. Not what we had hoped for. Accepted elsewhere. Good luck to all
