waitlist

I recently finished my audition for OU's School of Drama which was the second audition date out of three. I just got a letter stating that i had been placed on the waitlist, while my other friend got a letter that he was flat out rejected. They only accept 12 girls into the program so basically, if the students that were offered spots in the program choose another school, I could possibly be given a spot.

What are the chances of being accepted into the school from a waitlist.

This depends mainly on three things. First, how many acceptances were given, relative to the number of places (12). They usually assume a certain yield (pct accepting the acceptances) and so offer more acceptances than places. Second, how many people are on the waitlist. Third, your "rank" on the waitlist -- how many are ahead of you.

When you get on a waitlist, and if you really want to be admitted to a particular school, you shouldn't be passively waiting. You should definitely express your keen interest in admission. You might send additional materials to them if it's favorable to your case (letters, contacts from GC's or teachers, awards and clippings, etc.). And if it's true, you might make clear that your interest in OU does not depend on the financial aid offer.
