(i live in massachusetts)

that is quite surprising given your stats but knowing emory, not visiting may have had the reason since you didn't show enough interest...oh well i wouldn't lose hope yet since you can still get in from the waitlist

I got waitlisted too..my stats aren't as good as yours though:
Northern NJ
GPA: 3.9
SATS: 1360/720/720/690
good ec's/essays

I didn't visit the campus either

I am also very surprised I got waitlisted:
SATs: 1590/800/780/770
GPA: 4.3
strong ECs (sport, debate, newspaper)

Did not visit campus. Emory was my safety school. More surprised than upset.

How important was it to visit the campus?

was waitlisted:

1500/770/760/710, 3.8 UW (with 11 ap classes, 5s on 6 of them, 6 this year)
good ECs: music (have gotten letters from college music directors praising my playing), debate, quizbowl, etc.

it is true that i did not show much interest or visit; to be truly honest, i'm not even disappointed. i just got into northwestern and that's much higher up my list than emory is.

congrats to those who got in though!

I don't think interest plays much into their decision. i hope not because that's a dumb standard in my opinion.Any person could have visited the campus but people who truly worked their butts off in high school should be more deserving of getting in. Therefore I doubt not visiting the school would have made or broke you. I visited and I put that on my application. I did not do a tour though. Just walked around campus with mom. If they don't like that, then I can't help it

if you didnt visit, you could have at least ordered a video. i heard that a video=a visit in terms of showing interest. really, emory is known...notorious if you will...about showing interest & it does play a role into the decisions, believe what you will.

Emory= FREAKISH about showing interest. They don't want you using it as a backup school to the Ivies. No campus visit, no contact w/ Dan Walls, and you're pretty much screwed.
Waitlisted too, but I'm too annoyed to post my stats, and the web site won't let me log on until March 31st.

yup, waitlisted, no visit..that's okay i've decided i'm going to wash u but here are my stats

1460/780/750/680
lot's of APs, strong ECs, blah blah all that good stuff ;)

Emory's similar to washu in their interest factor, maybe a little less because you can order a video to substitute for a visit. At least that's my take.

I was also waitlisted. What should I do to show interest/ get accepted. ALso the website is down, when will it be back up

lol, waitlisted too... seems like there are more wait listees than acceptees on this site. Oh well. I'm disappointed, especially because I considered Emory a match and thought I had a chance.
33 ACT
760/730/730 SAT II
12/252 3.9 UW
Great recs, pretty good essay

Oh well, as long as Duke is more accepting (:)), I'll be fine

Waitlisted...

GPA: 3.9 W
ACT: 30
Many E.C.'s and Leadership
Strong Rec letters
No interview
Did not visit but met with admission rep at school...

" don't think interest plays much into their decision."

Not true...One of the Emory Admissions officers visited my school and said that Emory takes "demonstrated interest" as a major factor. This is probably because they are used as a safety for many kids...

That being said, I was accepted w/o visiting the school. I did attend two sessions with Emory though (the meeting at my school and the Southern Consortium).

is there anything we can do now? Is it possible to send them like a research paper I published to better my credentials? I hate being waitlisted:(

show them interest and visit if you haven't, sure you can send them your paper, also send a letter stating why you want to go to emory and why emory should accept you (what you have to contribute to the emory community), you could always send an additional rec, etc...don't worry! there is hope! i for one will not be accepting my place on the waitlist so more power to you :)

Hey, thanks for the info. I just want to make sure that sending them additional information will not hurt my chances and such. :)

i'm not accepting my spot on the waitlist, what about y'all?
