I believe you must drop your current chem class before adding. I tried adding math 17a when I was already in Math 21a, but it wouldn’t let me. So I’m guessing it’s like the same thing for your situation.

Is it the same case for waitlisting though? I don’t want to risk not having a chem class.

My case was for waitlisting. I left 21A and waitlisted for 17A. And you really have to take a chance because you don’t know what place you will be in. I risked all my classes away…but I have decent waitlisting position. If you really don’t want honors chem then leave. Because the waitlist only gets longer. If you don’t want to risk it, then just stay in honors. Can’t be that bad, right? The lady when I called UCD, said it’s a big gamble, so you have to REALLY REALLY think about it.

Isn’t there an option to see the number people waitlisted before you add? I didn’t really want honors chem, I only enrolled because chem 2a was full. :/

Not that I know of. Sisweb is extremely confusing…When you look for classes to add, and you type in a CRN, it shows nothing. But if you just select chemistry, it will show SOME classes only with waitlists or no waitlists.

I just made a huge mistake, I dropped my MAT 21A class bc I saw that a 17A class was open, now, I am waitlisted at #3 for that class again.
