I have been waitlisted at jhu, georgetown, and tufts. =/ i can't believe this

I have been waitlisted at 2 schools so far and i'm afraid i might get waitlisted at my top choice. This year, more students have applied to more schools. Meaning each student would apply to 10 as opposed to 5. This means that when they choose which school they attend, they will be leaving a spot at all the other ones they dont attend. Since so many kids have done that this year, you will have a much better shot when on the wait list so don't lose all hope yet. I know i'm not.

gloaming, I'd like to hear what you think after your visit

I'm feeling awful.

3 waitlists
3 rejections
3 safety acceptances

Doesn't look good for the ivies....this whole process is awful.

4 rejections( 1 reach, 2 matches, 1 safety)
2 waitlists( 1 reach, 1 match)
1 acceptance( 1 safety)

still waiting on more, but chances aren't looking good.. this whole process is really getting me down.

Three waitlists and three acceptances. All three acceptances offered me some scholarship money....but only two are schools I would be willing to attend and and it still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth when I should be happy about these schools.

I guess it also hurts that with the scholarships in mind, I really shouldn't even consider the other schools, including my first choice, even if they DO take me off the waitlists, because they definitely won't give me money. :(

2 rejections (1 reach, one was kinda safety, so surprised)
no waitlists
3 acceptances (1 reach, 2 safety(both offering scholarships))

GAAHHH FEELING CAPPY

Most of you have it good, stop complaining.

5 Rejections (Reach)
1 Match/safety acceptance

Remember guys it's what you do after college..and your life that counts...I work with many people who went to Ivy League schools and are not as successful as executives at the top..so, it's what you do with your life once you get out..no matter where you go.

I got into Rice, so I now have three choices (Bryn Mawr, Earlham). Middlebury is online tomorrow but I don't think that's happening.

I am looking forward to visiting all three schools..Earlham I don't know much about, Bryn Mawr's dorms are amazing and I love the location, Rice is in Texas but I have family there...who knows what will happen.

gloaming, Wow, RICE!! Well done!

Congratulations on getting into Rice gloaming.

Congratulations!

RICE! Brownie points for you!!

Gloaming - Rice is an awesome school, and doesn't break the bank. Have you visited there? The true house system, ala Yale, makes it distinctive, and there is tons of school spirit. The combo of music, engineering, and science makes for an interesting student body, and the school is truly LAC-sized with some world -class resources, especially in bio/medicine. And it is in a true urban area.

Aw thanks : )
I haven't really visited (just walked across the campus--my sister lives a few blocks away) but I am going to. No idea how I will decide where to go!

Change the title of this thread to SIX! (Middlebury)

Congrats again (and for a moment, you counted your self out- poo!!)

It sounds like you have a wonderful list of schools to choose from. I hope that this has taken some of the sting out of the waitlist and helps to shift your focus from what might have been to this is what "I have in front of me" and what you have in front of your really looks good. Hey enjoy this moment and have a great time on your visits.

The same thing happened to me last year--I was waitlisted at Dartmouth, Brown, Midd, Haverford, and Georgetown and deferred and then rejected from Swarthmore ED. But, I did get into Tufts and Bowdoin, and now I'm at Bowdoin and I couldn't imagine myself anywhere else. I know it's super disappointing to get the waitlist--it's pretty much worse than a rejection isn't it? They're saying that you're almost good enough for some reason or another, but not quite. So frustrating. If you're really set on the schools you're waitlisted at, send them letters, but if not, just focus on the school that wants you! Seriously, by the time you're there and enjoying yourself you'll be glad that you didn't stress about waitlists.
